pouch test???
I've been reading about the 5 day pouch test. Does it really work? Don't you feel like you are going to start gnawing on furniture or climbing the walls? I'm way out of whack and need to jump start my weight loss. After 3 years out and only a 70 pound weight loss I was wondering if the pouch test is a doable thing for me. It looks tough. Is it? Does it really work?
Yes it works to remind you of what and how you should be eating. The first 2 days are hard, but not as bad as it sounds.
But it is a 5 day plan only, it's not a diet. When the 5 days are finished you have to continue with good eating habits, exercising, journalling, etc.
If you haven't already, see your surgeon or PCP. Get your labs done. Make sure you're healthy and there's no physical reason for your experience.
Good luck!

Hi MandyMae. I'm 5 yrs post op. I first lost 130 pounds, then experienced the breakup of my marriage, and gained enough back with nonstop grazing and poor choices, that I'm only at a 50 pounds net weight loss. I came back to OH website last week, looking for encouragement, hoping to be able to regain the benefit of the WLS. I had never heard of the 5 day test, so someone was nice enough to provide me the link, and I was off and running. Yes, the first two days were tough. I've never been able to liquid fast for more than 24 hours, but I forced myself to not fail, and stayed away from food. This morning was my third day. Last night I prepared hard boiled eggs and tuna, in great anticipation of my much awaited breakfast and lunch on the third day, but what a surprise when I came into work this morning, not feeling like eating at all. I had a protein shake for breakfast and two eggs for lunch. I'm stuffed, and not even obsession over dinner. What a nice surprise, after the past few years of over eating and stretching my pouch. After these first two days, my whole attitude was lighter, so I walked the one mile to work, and can't wait to walk home tonight. By now, you may have started the test, so I wish you success. If you still haven't given it a try, I just want to say I am so glad to see that we can indeed get our pouch reconditioned to again reduce our intake and give us our tool back. Best of luck.
