Your body adjusting to WLS a few years out?
I have heard that your intestines develop villi or small hair like structures a few years post op, to help with the extra absorption of food/vitamins. Does this mean that we need to take as much of the calcium citrate as we did during the first year? I know we will still need the multivitamins and the b12's but what about the calcium citrate? I take 1200 mg of CC each day (what my nut reccomended) and wonder if I will continue to have to take that much, even a few years out. What things change a few years out of surgery with our bodies, absorption-wise?
Just curious. Thanks!!

It's my understanding that the villi allow you to digest food better and stop the malabsorbtion that leads to weight loss. But the portion of the intestine that has been removed is where the supplements are absorbed and that does not get replaced.
You should have your labs done a minimum of twice a year for life and adjust your supplements accordingly.
