Muscle cramps?
I had 60% of my pancreas removed. Did it correct the low blood sugar? Hummm, how do I answer that? I was still dropping but not as far. However, now I'm not dropping on things that I previously did drop on so i don't have a clue as to what is going on. I'm worried that my pancreas has been so busy making insulin that it's worn itself out. I see the endo in December so I should have a better idea of what is going on with my levels by then. If that is true, at least high blood sugar is easier to control than low. If it's not one thing, it's something else.
If someone had told me all this was going to happen after RNY, I never would have had it. I was healthier fat than I am now. I know I had more energy.
As far as the cramp etc stuff, I'm still worried about MS. In my research, it says that up to 5% of people with MS will have a negative MRI. And as weird as my body is, I would probably be in that 5% if I have it. I have a lot of the symptoms - fatigue that hits in the late afternoon, not like normal fatigue, but I'm fine one second and asleep in the chair the next. Dizziness, feeling unbalanced, loss of sensation in hands and feet. I don't know. I guess I'll ask my hematologist if this neurologist is any good. Seemed to me that his exam was pretty quick.
I just want an answer.

I understand your need to just get an answer. It's hard to treat something if you don't know what it is. I keep telling everyone that I'm comparing this search for a diagnosis like my search for my lifelong career. I know what careers I do not want to do, but I have so many passions that I can not narrow it down to just one. It seems like this search for a diagnosis is basically process by elimination. I keep eliminating the possibility of certain diseases, yet can't pinpoint it. Why is it so hard to get a diagnosis? I share your frustration and I hope that you DO NOT have MS. I will keep you in my prayers.
I'm starting to doubt why I went through this WLS...at 325 lbs pre-surgery, my only ailment was elevated blood pressure (which I was taking pills for and was diagnosed with it at age 16 and at 160 lbs), but I had much more energy. I was dancing 3-5 times a week and now I'm 100 lbs less but I'm tired and it takes everything I've got to get up and teach four classes on Saturdays. My WLS only got me down to 200 lbs so I did not even get a temporary taste of being thin. Now I'm at 225 lbs and I'm really disappointed with the state of my health. But I will keep pressing on for an answer!

I've decided to seek a second opinion. At least maybe someone can tell me why it isn't some things. I didn't even get that from this guy. All I got was that it wasn't ALS. Feel free to email me privately.

Be sure to have your Vitamin D (25-hydroxy), Selenium and Serum intact PTH done also. If your calcium comes back fine it doesn't necessarily tell how you are doing.
The tingling can absolutely be perephel neuropathy, what is your B-12 lab number and how much B-12 are you taking daily?

cajungirl, I am taking one B384 (pink) folbic pill a day. I just had my yearly labs taken yesterday. I won't get the results back for a week or so. I can't remember what my level was last year, but my doc said at last year's check results that my B12 was fine after being on the B384 for a year. Even though my B12 appeared fine, my iron came back last year as low and he put me on iron pills for 7 months. I've been off the iron since april, so if it is low again it will show up in this current lab run. I'm not sure if he is testing my Vitamin D. I will have to ask. What test do I need to detect a calcium and vitamin D deficiency?
I don't know alot about p. neuropathy, but it seems like I could have it. I can't seem to find anything else on what it could be. I have to admit that all I was told after my surgery 5 years ago was to take a multi vitamin. No one ever told me that I could develop such deficiencies, much less a neuropathic disorder! Thanks for your help. I hope to get some answers. I'm so tired of searching, but I know I must press on for answers!

A Comprehensive metabolic profile will test your calcium. Vitamin D you want drawn is the Vitamin D 25-hydroxy, I also suggest the Serum intake PTH (if you can get your doc to order it); if not immediately should your calcium level come back to high or to low, demand the PTH.
A good site to find out what all the lab test mean go to www.labtestonline.org, it's a great site to help understand why test are run and what highs/lows mean.
I do hope you get this under control, deficiencies are scary.
