5 day pouch test - HELP!
OK - this morning did it! I am 3 years out. Started at 260, lowest was 153. Then I stayed at 155 for almost 2 years. THEN I got lazy - reduced gym time, added carbs & sugars, pushed my poouch to the limit. I swore I would NEVER see 170 again. This morning that is what the scale said. Soooo I started the 5 day pouch test! I am looking for support. I would really like to get back to 155 - I felt great there. Sugestions?? I was eating a lot - eating till full, waiting awhile & eating more. I need to get back to 1 cup portions 3x a day & no more. It is a stressful time in my life - my husband & I are having some problems - but I don't need to be sabotaging myself. Any suggestions?? Thanks!
Hugs,
Laura

You CAN do this Laura!!! I've done it 2x's successfully (tried it many more times than that, LOL) so don't despair if you don't get it perfectly right on the first try! The scale IS a great motivator, isn't it?!?!? Anyway, just wanted to wish you good luc****ep us posted on your progress!

Hi Laura,
Just wanted to let you know you are not alone. I'm almost 2 years out and have seen the scale inch upward in the last few months. I also started the 5 day pouch test today. So we're doing it together. I know it's hard but we can do it. I went through heck the first year and I'm NOT putting this weight back on. Keep us informed and good luck. I'm cheering us both on!

I'm really looking forward to hearing from you guys over the coming week. I feel like I need to do the 5 day pouch test as well, and I'd love to get the play-by-play before I start!
I haven't gained any weight back, but I haven't lost any in a really long time either. I'm still at 175, and NOT DONE LOSING YET!!
Good luck folks... keep us posted.

I've been using this website since 1 year before having my Roun Y 03/19/03, but this is the first time I've ever felt compelled to post or ask a question. I was highly successful the first year, losing 130 pounds, but before I could ever complete the journey to goal of 145, my marriage ended and I slowly inched my way back to gaining 1/2 my weight back over 5 years. Now, with renewed intention, and returning health issues, I'm ready to take the challenge on, to start again. I've been so concerned with the amount of food I've been able to tolerate these past few years, that I've been feeling like my pouch has stretched beyond repair. I'm seeing something here about a 5 day pouch test. Since it has been a long time since I've been back to this forum, I'm afraid I don't know what that test is, and would appreciate some direction. Do I stand a chance of losing again by getting back to pouch basics, and does the intestinal bypass make it possible to lose again quicker than pre-WLS? I'm not trying to be impatient, just successful. Lately I've been feeling that I missed the first 18 month window to reach goal, so all the pain and risk associated with having had the surgery, was for nothing. I'd appreciate any comment or advice. Thanks.
Francis, here is the link to the pouch test they mentioned www.5daypouchtest.com. It was created by a WLS patient to help her regain control. I actually like the plan, I've done it 2 times losing 5-7 lbs both times. The thing about the plan is that it isn't meant as a "lose weight" plan, but as a way to get the pouch conditioned to help you with your tool. I felt great restriction after doing the test.
I am thinking about doing it again next week (after shopping for what I need this weekend). I tend to do much better the first 2 days; my problem is once I introduce food in my system I tend to think about food way to much; right now it's horribly bad.
