Carb question for WLS grads!!!
I'm 3 yrs, 3 months out, did have a slight bounce of 8-10 lbs from my lowest at 2 1/2 yrs out but am still under goal...Up to that point my daily carbs and protein probably lined up equally ...As a rule I now try to keep carbs at 1/2 my total protein intake daily ( ie 100 g protein, 50 g carbs), some days I stray a little higher, but overall I find this formula is working well for helping me maintain...
Prepared dinners are great for convience, I do not find them helpful at all when it comes to getting balance though, I agree, on the label the carbs are just way too high for my comfort level...If you can work it out try making enough at meals to fix a left-over plate...Another of my favs is lunch meat & 1/2 slice of cheese rolled up a romaine lettuce leaf...some times an open faced sandwich on high protein-whole grain bread ...Or I have several recipes for crustless quiche/frittas, I make them in individual pyrex baking cups so I have easy storage in my fridge...
Good Luck, maintanence is challenging, but SO worth it...

For me, I count protein. At least 100 grams a day. I've found that those quick meals are very high in sodium. When I cook, I cook enough to pack leftovers in a divided container. They freeze well and taste better than the packaged products.
Sorry I can't give you the grams of carbs a day but I just don't count them.
(oops, I just read that you wanted 3+ years. I am 2.5 years out.)

With the DS: there is no stoma, so no stoma strictures; there are no limitations (other than volume) against drinking before, during or after meals; 80% of ingested fat is malabsorbed; 98.9% of type II diabetics are CURED of this devastating disease, with data showing stable cure over 10 years out; there is the best average weight loss and most durable (average 76% excess weight loss going out 10 years) of all of the bariatric surgeries. That's why I had a DS!
I do not count carbs, calories, etc.For the most part during the 1st 3ish years I actually learned "well-rounded" and eat 6x - small meals - per day - just like @ the beginning.
When I do experience a weird weight gain - 1st things I look @ are: my habits the past few days... sipping w/ meals? or dehydrated? (I have to MAKE myself drink water!) Box of cheesz-it's gone? (now THAT would be a clue to mindless grazing!) or is it that I'm not eating ENOUGH?
Pretty basic. For the most part - the past year, when I experience a gain it's USUALLY because I AM NOT EATING ENOUGH or OFTEN ENOUGH. No kidding.
When I eat balanced, regularly, I maintain - or lose back to my body's "happy" weight.
When I eat froz dinners: Lean Cuisine or Smart Ones - I'll make into 2 little meals - stretch out the "fuel" = stretch out the burn. Again, that's just for me. You've been post op long enough to know what YOUR body reacts to! Trust yourself - your "new" instincts! Look @ your food/eating habits/behavior and you'll know! :)
Take care!

I have stopped obsessing over carbs like I use to and focus more on calories and protein. I eat a Smart Ones frozen at least 3 times a week. They make some really good ones that are low carb and those are the only ones that I eat. There are lots of low carb frozen dinners now that are only meat and veggies and under 20 carbs.
