Had the VBG recently?

I am looking for feedback on the VBG from people who have recently had this procedure done.   Many people ask do they still do this procedure... yes it is being done however, it has been revamped over the past couple of years.  I guess I am wanting feedback from those who have recently had this procedure(within the last 2 or 3  years).  I visted the VBG forum and it has been abandonded because so few people are doing this procedure.   Most are getting the RNY or the sleeve.  HELP!!
