Candy bowl at work
Oh, how I wish this would go away...but the older lady here at work thinks that we need a chocolate candy bowl for the one or two visitors that we have in the office a day.
Does she not believe me when I tell her that I am a food addicit and it is just like leaving crack around a druggie? I guess she doesn't believe me because she continues to buy bags of candy every week.
How do I make myself not want this candy? I am sooo NOT strong when it comes to this. I am doing well right now in maintaining my weight loss, but if I continue this I know that I am going to be in trouble.

Contribute to it but put sugar free candy in there...I think this time of year you'll find halloween candy that's sugar free. Hershey has some...I know cuz I bought a bunch of it for Easter for me...
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

I used to practically OD on Peanut M&Ms--I told myself that they have maggots inside--now not so enticing!!
(That's probably because I did find some insects inside some Halloween candy once, and it really made an impression on me!)
Do you work in the same office room with this lady? Maybe you could offer to buy a type of candy that you don't really care for and then that might make it a little less tempting.
Otherwise, you may just have to be VERY strong!!
Good luck!

I absolutely think he's the Bee's Knees!! He's one of the best surgeons for the RNY that I've heard of. He's doing Lap-band now, also, but that's still a learning experience for him and the patients he's working on.
I have to get back to him for my 3-year checkup very soon, but my bloodwork came back great so I hope he'll forgive me for the regain I've done! Something about working inside 8 hrs a day and then the extremes of hot and cold weather here in NV just made me want to cocoon; not good!

I have faced the exact same dilemma at my work. When it finally sunk into me that she loved seeing me fail, I decided that I ABSOLUTELY would not give her the pleasure! I made up my mind that I would never touch that candy dish again. If I brought my own in and kept it in my teller window or ate it somewhere else that would be a different story! I am proud to say that I have not eaten ANY sweets in the last 4 weeks!
i keep things on my desk and in my locker that i can have
sugar free hersheys chocolate which is very good, especially the dark.
sugar free werthers butterscotch candy. sf gum or mints
if i have to eat a few a day of this stuff i do, but the real stuff has not crossed my lips since my surgery over two years ago.
i also keep, extra water, sf iced tea , etc handy at work. then i can snack too and let everyone else get FAT again ha ha.
hang in there. you can do this

How about thinking of something you can reward yourself with. Say you manage to go an hour without taking some of the candy, then reward yourself with some of your own sugar free candy, a coffee, etc. Once you know you can go an hour without dipping your hand in, then aim for two hours, then morning, etc. You get my drift?
I suggest you find something better than the candy in her bowl to reward yourself with. Create new habits by rewarding good behaviour. Positive will always be stronger than negative. Tell yourself you CAN HAVE once you have got through the hour, rather than telling yourself you CAN'T HAVE some candy from the bowl for an hour.
Hope you find a solution that works for you. Believe me, I know the feeling - I'm the same but with cookies in the office.
