Protein shake Question
I am getting ready to have my Panni surgery on the 11th and I will be doing a 5 day Pouch test before and a weeka fter surgery, but I have big time issues with protein shakes. No matter what milk I use, 1%, 2% or Skim, I am running to the bathroom. Soy is not an option for me as I have alway had a slight allergic reaction to it. What do you gals and guys suggest as far as protein goes? My Gram has some stuff called Procel protein powder that has been perscribed because of her low protein levels (shes on Dialysis) and It adds 5 grams of protein per scoop, but im not sure What to mix it with? I think I will only have issues with the first two days because its liquids and I need to get in my protein. ANy suggestions?
Why are you planning on doing the 5DPT both before and after surgery? Was that your surgeon's recommendation? That makes no sense to me. Before having major surgery you should have the best possible nutrition.
I am a huge advocate of the 5DPT, but it should only to used for 5 days and just to get back on track. It shouldn't be considered a diet.
That said, try mixing your protein shakes with water instead of milk. If it's a matter of taste, try adding some Torianni SF syrup to change the flavor.
Good luck with your Panni! I'm very jealous!

ProCel is ok to use, but use 6 scoops at a time (30g). I haven't had milk for 14 yrs, so no loss.
Any of these are what I use:
1.) Champion ProScore 100 choco + 8 oz water + ice, blended (hand blender or Magic Bullet).
2.) Champion Pure Whey Stack choco + 6-8 oz water, shaken.
3.) IDS vanilla-cinnamon + "glop" of DaVinci sugar free caramel sauce + 8 oz water + ice, blended.
4.) the PWS chco + the van-cin (50/50) in about 10 oz ho****er, stirred or hand blender.
They deliver 30g protein, less than 3g sugar, less than 200 calories, when made with water.
Lately I've been adding a shake of cinnamon to my hot ones since cinnamon fights belly fat.
I always put 1 scoop of UpCal D powder in (500mg calcium citrate, 250 IU of vit D3).

P.S. My year + long absence has NOTHING to do with my WLS, or my type of WLS. See my profile.
I have found that I really enjoy the 100% whey protein from GNC. I put in in my coffee in the morning. I put alittle milk (or you could put an ice cube to cool it off so the protein won't clump). Then I add the protein mix with a spoon and then add more coffee. It really does taste like a latte. I like the Chocolate Carmal and the unflavored. You can put the unflavored in anything even hot stuff like soup. Good luck and let us know how you are doing. I am happy for you and your panni removal but very jealous!
Have a great day and God bless, Penni
