HURRICANE GUSTAV

This post is for all our members here at OH that have had to evacuate their homes due to the current situation with HURRICANE GUSTAV.  I want to wish you God's speed that you, your families, your homes and belongings will remain safe.

Please let us know all is well; as soon as you are able! My thoughts and prayers are with you!

This storm is NOT over!  People are getting a false sense that New Orleans has made it through.  The storm surge has NOT hit yet and it is projected to be 10-18 ft.  Remember, the levees did NOT breach until the DAY AFTER Katrina moved through.  This is JUST BEGINNING so PLEASE KEEP PRAYING!!!!!!

My parents and sister who live just outside of New Orleans both have RVs and are in Jackson, MS.  All of our friends and family have evacuated to various locations.  I doubt that my sister's house is going to make it through this one.  She lives just six blocks from the Harvey Canal and the repairs to the levees there have not been completed.  She just added on 2 bd and 2 ba and remodeled the entire house!  My parents Infiniti is parked there so that's likely gone too.  Life is what we seek to save -- everything else can be replaced.  *sigh*

This is so sad!  I can't believe this is happening!  I'm glad we moved but this is devastating.  We can't keep our eyes off the news!  This is bringing back some difficult memories for us and so many!  I am so sad.  :-(

Thank you to all who post and update!  I hope we continue to have computer and cell phone connections through all of this!  Communication was such a HUGE problem after Katrina!  Waiting and not knowing is so stressful!  I have had difficulty reaching my sister and parents by cell phone today!  I am getting busy signals or a fast busy due to the traffic and cell phone towers.  I did get through to them about an hour ago - they are more optimistic than I am - I'm sure they have to be.  I'm a realist!  :-/

PRAYERS FOR ALL!

I am so sorry that your family is going through this again.  I will certainly keep them and the rest of the coast in my prayers.  Please keep us posted.  God bless, Penni
