Have an odd request...
HI lINDA, IT IS SCAREY AND OVERWHELMING TO BE SO SICK. Long story short, i was very sick, almost dies malnourished and they put me IV feeds for 4 months. They then prescribed a drug called megace to stimulate my appetite. It costs $600 a bottle, but it works and my insurance covered it.
Ask your doc for this drug. In addition, try peanut butter or any nut butter they are high calorie, good fat and low sugar. Also try yogurt with protein powder added or really thick protein drinks like the 52 gram slams. I am thinking you need the eay to digest things like softs and liquids given your condition. Let me know if that is not the case. I am happy to help you plump up a bit. Better to be plump and happy than thin as a rail and sick!!!

Calories come from three sources - protein, fat and carbs. Are you able to eat complex carbohydrates? If so, starches such as potatoes and beans would be an excellent source for you as they can be made into soups, salads, french fries, refried beans, and more - all of which are soft & easy to consume. Since digestion of carbs starts in the mouth, you'll get the most bang for the buck if you can eat carbs. One hundred calories in will equal 100 calories absorbed. That is not true of either protein or fats because both RNY'ers & DS'ers have some level of malabsorption of both, so eat as many carbs as you can tolerate.
Soup is your friend. Not only does it flow through your pouch quickly allowing you to consume MORE of it, it also retains all the nutrients of the vegetables cooked in it. I ate a lot of soup in the early days when I couldn't get enough food in because of the restriction. Likewise, break the pouch rules - drink with meals. High calories fluids are what you are looking for - soup, sodas, milk, protein shakes. Whatever you can tolerate.
Fat is another means of amping up the calories. Since you don't want to just chow down on a stick of butter, find ways to combine it with other sources. Peanut butter and other nut butters are excellent sources of nutrition and calories. A simple peanut butter & jelly sandwich can up your count. (There are low sugar sources of jams/jellies you can use).
One of the diabetics at my office gets Krispy Kreme donuts unglazed and puts Splenda on them.
Good luck. It's tough going through that, and I wish you the best!
