4 years ago today!
Four years ago today was my wls!
So put a 4th candle on this cake!
It's mid-evening as I'm writing this, and at this time 4 yrs. ago, I was sitting in a big chair next to my hospital bed, surrounded by pillows! Feeling weak & sore--but also feeling like the luckiest woman in the world! I still feel that way!!!!!
I'm not happy about exactly where I am on the scale, but I'm still extremely satisfied that I have kept off about 110 lbs. and am a totally different woman physically and (in many ways) emotionally. I'm not a "young 'un"--I'm 58--but I feel younger, healthier, & more attractive than I have for decades!
Those of you who are relatively new "grads"--stay as true to the healthy eating habits that took your weight off as you possibly can!! I was SO compliant my first 1.5 or 2 yrs.
and (you've heard this over & over) I got lazy & complacent and "forgot" I was still a deep-down emotional eater/food addict (who had been "in remission").
But I'm OK. I'm still working on it. When I follow the rules, eat the way I should, get my exercise in, drink the right kind of fluids, stay connected spiritually--my surgery still works!!
I love this OH site; it truly is a lifeline for me! There's not a one of you that I don't get something from!

Hi Jo,
It is so good to hear from people who have been through the surgery and who have lived with it for a few years to see what it is like afterward. I'm a newbie who is just now getting a consult with a bariatric surgeon, hopefully for a lapband procedure. I chuckled when I read your post because I'm 54 now so we're close in age. I've struggled with this weight for so many years. This site is a godsend. I'm so grateful for the site already and I'm not even near my surgery yet. Keep up the great work, Jo. You are such an inspiration to those of us coming up behind you.
