Michele,
I completely understand! -wanting to eat until I popped!  This is the blessing of surgery for me.  I had NO control, and I want control.  I think I would eat about a million caramels right now if I could, glad that I can't though:)

I miss bread....and white carb sides (rice, potatoes, pasta)....I miss spaggetti on friday's...

I miss carbs....but I eat them on occassion....They don't like me as well as they used to and hurt going down most of the time. I don'tdeprive myself, and as long as I don't feel deprived, with little samplings now and then....I'm okay!  Once in a while i do indulge too far and then I pay dearly with pain, gas, and have to carb detox for two days!  LOL

I ordered a loaded baked potato today!  It slid right down with all that butter and sourcream and bacon!  (half of it anyway)  I know...I shouldn't have...But it's been years since I had a baked potato....and I have walked over 5 miles in the last three days...

At least it's not processed and it was baked....Oh me...if I can find a way to justify it...I will!  LOL
I am mostly very disciplined...

I didn't snack tonight and I'm going to bed hungry too!  Does the guilt show?  LOL

I don't really miss any specific food/drink.  Once I got off diet cokes for a few weeks (as a pre-op about to have surgery I quit them), I haven't missed them anymore.

What I think I "miss" is being able to eat with wreckless abandon.  I was a big binge eater who gave hardly any thought to what I ate.

I think about every meal now - what I'm eating, how MUCH I'm eating, does it have enough calories, fat, protein, etc.  Sometimes I miss just going through a drive through and ordering a buttload of food and eating until stuffed.

I know that sounds pathetic.  I guess it is.  It is still that binge eater mentality that I may always have with me.  I'd like to hope that that desire to binge eat will go away.  But so far it hasn't.  The desire to binge eat is still there every once in a while and I have to ignore it and tell myself that that isn't a healthy way to think to get through it.

I don't miss anything.  I eat it.

As far as ice cream goes, why it took surgery to realize PORTIONS were a problem (not the food) is beyond me.  I recently had my birthday and cake was served.  I had my slice (about 1/12) and ice cream (1/2 cup).  Relatives were serving up 1/8 slices with 1 or 2 cups of ice cream.  Yup, they are fat.

As far as soda goes, we just bought some Jones Soda Cane Sugar Root Beer.  I bought it because real sugar soda is hard to find and it isn't that HFCS garbage drink.  In other words, I drink soda like a treat or a dessert not like water.

MILK!!!!  I "magically" became Lactose intolerant, and now I can't handle even a little "regular" milk. This is strange since I'm okay with whey protien. Meh?!?  But I miss eating cerials. I seriously dislike soymilk. The Lactaid milk makes me sleepy just like milk. NExt to try is rice milk and almond milk. Maybe opne of those will make me happy. But man I miss milk in a bowl of crunchy cerial. *sigh*

That is funny for me too.  I loved to eat cereal with milk!  Oh, and icecream:)  I can't do it now at all.  Although I can drink coffee with milk and protein shakes with milk and also yogurt.  I guess they don't have as much milk?  Not sure.  But cereal and milk, not a chance.

I too miss being able to pig out and eat and eat till I am so uncomfortable.  I sometimes feel cheated because I can only eat a small amount.  However, that cheated feeling quickly disappears because I am so happy with my new healthy lifestyle and am so in love with the new me :)  which is actually the old me just rediscovered :)  Alot of foods just don't appeal to me anymore but I do miss, pizza, steak, mcdonalds big m *** birhtday cake, a turtle sundae,  having a regular sugared soda once in awhile.  Just being able to stick whatever I want into my mouth not wondering what its made of and if it'll make me sick.  But like I said that feeling is only temperary because I so love the new me and the health benefits outweigh any minor food craving that I may have.
