pain from overeating or eating too fast
I am almost two years out. I have lost almost 90 pounds and am at an ideal weight. I exercise 5 days a week religously--and I still suffer with overeating on a fairly regular basis. The pouch is a constant reminder, I guess I'm a slow learner. I feel miserable when I do it--and I wonder how long it will take for the behavior modification to completely work. I do well most of the time, and sometimes I go a couple of months without screwing up--but sometimes I screw up more than once in a week. Can anyone else relate to this?
I am almost four years out and still can eat too fast or too much. I can get very sick. Dumped this past week and knew it was my own fault. I am being careful at the moment but hope I learned a lesson for good this time.......be careful not to overload my stomach. I am a recovering overeatter and need to live with that fact. It isn't going to go away and is my reality like people with diabetes or drug addictions etc. I am greatful for my tool of surgery and altered GI tract and am going to start over right now and be good to my pouch.
As the saying is...........don't quit quitting....... except this time I have the advantage of a wonderful tool to keep me in check.
Take care

Kim I do it to some times. If I don't pay attention to eating then I mindlessly eat to much. I have found that using a smaller plate and not putting more than I think I'll eat on it is best. I struggle when the food taste so good to not tell myself "one more bite" and usually that 1 extra bite I "think" I need is to much. I also know if once I'm done if I don't remember the plate from in front of me......I'll slower continue to eat more.
To you allow yourself so much time to eat? I've been being more aware and it seems 20 minutes is my limit, doesn't matter what I'm eating I am physically satisifed in about 20 minutes. Try this then get the plate away from you, it might help.

Hi Kim,
I'm seven years out and I struggle with it too sometimes. Our eyes say "yes" and our pouches say "NO!"
A couple of things I've learned along the way....
We must learn and practice to check in and focus on our pouches. Think of the gas tank on your car. Would you fill it and then keep filling it to the point that gas is spilling out on the ground? Absolutely not! Same way with our pouches. Mindless eating, focusing on external stimulation such as t.v. or talking with others, or plain "I want more" or whatever it is are things we need to tune out and tune into our pouch.
You are not alone in this!!
