Need Help and Support!!!
Hello Everyone,
It's been sometime since I have posted to the boards but so much has happen I'm in need of support. I had RNY in 2/2/03 and lost 150lbs. and have had very little trouble maintaining the weight up until I became pregnant with my twins. I gained 50lbs with my twins I was on bedrest for 2 months and a week after they were born I had a bowel obstructution that almost killed me and had to undergo emergency surgery. The 50lbs came right off within weeks. The surgery sight now has a hernia I went in on March 26,2008 to get it repaired and minutes after the anesthia I went into congestive heart failure and suffered a heart attack again almost died and never did have the surgery. Since having my twins my life is been so crazy that I wasn't taking care of myself my labs were terrible and had to have 2 blood tranfusion and get iron tranfusions........Having the twins has really stressed me out. They said the heart attack was due to poor eating and stress. I'm only 34 and have been on heart medication which is making me gain weight very fast. Since my heart attack I have gained 20lbs my clothes are tight and I'm so depressed I'm falling back into my old habits again. My cardiologist said I need to stay on the medicince I feel so frusterated I feel like food is taking over my life again....I'm scared to go back to the fat girl again...I'm taking depression medicine and have to take sleeping pills just to get a good night sleep. I feel like the food is taking over my life again, how can I get back on track......
Thanks for listening I just needed to tell someone how I was feeling!

shannon, hugs to you!
Take a deep breath, and give yourself a break. You've been through a lot, and have learned many things through your trials.
God blessed you with twins, and He will give you the strength and wisdom to raise them. But to do that, you have to not lose yourself in the process. its time you worked on you as a priority. That means, going to support group, keeping up with your medications and hopefully counselling to help you work through the depression.
So lets get back on track, and that's what our support group here is all about.
Lets go back to the basics.
What vitamins do you take, and do you have a plan to take them faithfully? If not, we can help you here put together a good plan. You already learned you can't skimp on these, so hopefully you are already taking quality ones.
Go back to the basics of eating. Keep the junk out of the house and stay away from sugar and carbs. Go back to protein fruits and vegetables? Are you supplementing with protein shakes to help build muscle, remember you have a malabsorptive surgery.
Do you have time to walk or exercise a few days a week?
Are you doing something nice for yourself, like doing your nails or something every few weeks?
Check in with us and record what you are eating, so we can help you be accountable.
Shannon....you are here asking for help and that is half the battle. The implimentation for success is up to you though, and I believe you have what it takes to get things back on track.
So lets start working on this list...and while you're at it, go toss out the junk food in the house....ok?
We are all here for you....

Shannon, you sure have been through alot. This is a good place to start and get some support. You need to take care of yourself, I know you want to be around to see your twins grow up and to be there for them.
Tami has given you a lot of great advice and we will all be here to cheer you on as you get back on track and get off those pounds.
Take care
Sher
Along w/ Tami & Sher, I want to encourage you to keep coming here for support! You have been through an incredible experience w/ the birth of twins, a heart attack, dealing w/ transfusions & poor labs, coping w/ depression, and frustration w/ gained weight. Whew!!
Twenty lbs. isn't the end of the world, and it doesn't mean you're going to plummet back into obesity. I know it must seem like just one more burden to have to deal w/. I haven't been through ANYTHING like you have, but I am now addressing something I should have dealt w/ a long time ago--regained weight. I'm not doing anything magic; I'm just doing what I did to lose the weight in the first place--eat the way I did when I was about a yr. post-op (I'm 4 yrs. out), meaning protein 1st & then veggies & fruits & healthy wheats--with some reasonable snacks--controlling my portions, giving up my Diet Coke (which I didn't drink the 1st 2 yrs. but totally got hooked again to the point that I was drinking it all day), replacing the D. Coke w/ water & Crystal Light, exercising almost every day, & logging my food on www.thedailyplate.com. And taking my vitamins/supplements.
When I eat & behave like I'm supposed to, I feel so much better, physically & mentally. I don't want to do these things, but I have to--I want to just pretend I'm a normal person--but I'm not. Take baby steps--do something--and one thing will lead to another. We are all here for you and will not judge you!! We may not have been through what you have, but we understand you are hurting and we definitely can relate to your fear of being morbidly obese again.

Shannon, I just wanted to jump in with some support too! Wow, you've been thru alot in such a short amount of time. Right now you need to focus on getting healthy so you can feel better and take care of those babies! Start small~work on getting in all of your vitamins for a month, then maybe add something else to work on. If you try to do everything all at once it will be way too overwhelming. I can imagine how busy you must be with 2 little ones so just do your best. Try to stick with the basics of eating good, lean protein first, drinking plenty of liquids between meals and no drinking with meals and if you're able to take a walk daily that would be great physically and mentally. I have to agree with all of the ladies above~come here for support every day!

Hi Shannon,
Sorry to here about what you have been going through. We all have to go through tribals and tribulations, in order to receive our blessings. You have accomplished so much just by losing the weight that you have, so that means that you know what to do. Just go back to what you were doing. Take one day at a time. When things seem so bad, we don't think that things will get better, but if you look at all the things that you have been through, didn't it always seem to work out. If you have read my latest posts in the past few weeks, I have had a few setbacks myself, but it all worked out. Remember for every tribal and tribulation you go through there is always a blessing at the the end of it. Just have faith in yourself, and what you believe in, and you will accomplish what it is you want to do, I will say a praire for you. God Bless!!!
