I'm very disappointed I only lost 1 pound in 1 week. Shouldn't I be losing a lot more? I had VSG August 17 and lost 17 pounds in the first week. So why the slow progress now? Ugh!
I am 11 years out. Over the last 6 years I have regained 60 pounds.
after the loss of my dad 6 years I didn't eat. It is just as bad as eating to much I have found it. Plus in the last 2 years I have had 3 surgeries 2 3 months apart. Last August I had my whole thyroid removed due to 4 goiters that were growing rapidly. I have Hashimoto's. For the first 6 months they had the hardest time regulating my dosage for my meds. However I have been stable for about 6 months now. But no matter what I do I am not able to loose any weight. What am I doing wrong? Is there a trick to it I am not sure about?
not losing has to do with eating too much/eating the wrong foods. What does a days menu look like for you? Do you track and measure your meals?
since yo deactivated I hope you still see this reply.
binge eAting history is not a deterrent to having Wls. You will also need therapy to help with that but mostly you need a new surgeon, one who knows what he/she is talking about. Don't give up!
Look up Dr. A at Endobariatrics....
He has a host of YouTube videos on Resleeving, slow weight lose, etc.....It could be that your sleeve isn't cut right and you possibly need to go for Sleeve to RNY to help you start losing again. Check him out. He's a very good Dr., concerned about his patients, they just love him! He says even if he didn't do your sleeve, you can still call his office with concerns and someone would speak with you. ?

Hi all,
I am absolutely devastated, I have been waiting three years for this day... to finally meet with the surgeon and hopefully get the surgery date. The surgeon told me that he has no idea how I made it this far in the process because I have a past history of binge eating. Which automatically disqualify me from the surgery for safety concerns. I just feel so defeated, I have done everything to prepare for this surgery. Even things that have not been asked of me. For example, I reached out and had my own psych evaluation done. I have already met with dietician three times, I'm working out with personal trainer 4 times a week and waking 5k on off days. I'm 27 years old and my life is only just beginning. I feel hurt.

TheWombat,
Thank you for this very different information, and no hair loss for you at all! This really does show that we are all individuals and can experience different things. Good to know, and it looks like it didn't get serious with you. I am aware that dehydration can be very serious in any situation. I am getting close!

It has been quite some time since I have logged in. Today is my 8 year surgery anniversary. I have struggled with weight regain after a horrible car wreck almost two years ago. That event has taken me off the ice twice. The first time was right after. I sprained my MCL and a pretty bad shoulder injury. The shoulder didn't heal, so I needed surgery, which took me off ice again. The shoulder rehab has been slow, but movement and strength are slowly improving. I am working with my coach and husband/ice dance partner to regain my skills so we can hopefully compete this coming spring. I will try to check in more often now that I am working remotely again.
It has been a long time since I have been signed in too. I remember you. It is sad news about Dr. Klassen.
Here's the advice my dietician gave me. If you follow these three things, you WILL gain the weight you want, but the process is hard.
1. Your meals should be vegetables with a side of protein.
2. You need to exercise every day at least thirty mins (something to do with metabolism and heart disease).
3. Track what you eat either through an app or simply keep a physical log. I would show up with my eating habits to her and she would correct my mistakes.
I think that number 3 might need a dietician to help in extreme cases.

Trying to lose weight and change my lifestyle! My main goal is 220.
