Dispensing of medical advice- a warning for Newbies

Sure.  Prior to surgery I was diagnosed as diabetic- but this occurred literally a few weeks prior.  Post surgery, my blood sugar levels would drop down into the 30's.  It seemed to happen primariy for two different reasons- either not eating enough carbs (independent of caloric intake) or more of a reactive type such as eating pasta.  In managing it I do the following, and it worked great.  Took a while to get the timing down and such though, and I think this varies by user.

1.  Eat 6 times a day, 3 meals 3 snacks.  These are spread out so I don't go too long between eating.  Early out I had to eat on a schedule (by time) since I didn't have a strong desire to eat.

2.  Managed carbs- 30 net carbs for a meal, 15 net carbs for a snack.  Too much in either direction caused issues.

3.  Stay away from known foods that cause a crash- pasta for example.  No idea why this particular food is an issue compared to others, but it is.

4.  Eat right before going to bed.  I was going low in the middle of the night.

Overall, if my net carbs fall under 60 then for sure I will have issues.
