How do you sleep at night?
No, seriously...how do you sleep? I am having a very hard time getting comfortable enough to sleep lately.
I never thought I'd be in pain because of my protruding bones, but here I am. Life is strange sometimes.
I've been sleeping in a twisted manner that is hurting my back, and I'm having major issues with that, so I need to stop. I try to lie on my side and my knees knock together. So I put a pillow between them, but then my hip bones and ribs start to hurt. So I roll over onto my back with a pillow under my knees, but then my tailbone hurts.
Laying on my back seems to be the best option so far, and it's great that I no longer snore like crazy when I do so and send my poor BF off to sleep on the couch. But I'm just curious how you all sleep. What position seems to be best for you?
I sleep on my side and it's the only way I can sleep. After plastics, the doctor wanted me to sleep on my back but that was simply impossible. You really do need to find a comfortable position as sleep is a huge part of weight loss and weight management. Maybe your bed or pillow needs to be changed? It takes me a long while to find just the right pillow (and the ones I like are of course ridiculously expensive, but they get me what I need and good sleep is worth anything). I get my pillows from the Duxiana and their beds are the only beds that really work for me. Makes traveling less fun, but it is what it is.
Lindsay - I have some of the same issues. I have a Sleep Number bed and - although I didn't care for it in the beginning - I really like it now because I can adjust the softness of the bed. When I was pre-op my sleep number was 45 or so, now I'm down to 30. I still have to sleep with a pillow in between my knees or lay on my back with a little pillow under my knees.
Crazy stuff, huh?
OMG! I'm also having the same problem I actually said to my hubby this morning..I feel like Goldilocks....this beds to hard...
he said no your just bones now..LOL!!...all I can say is thank God I have to get up 2-3 times a nite to pee
b/c it gives me a chance to quell the ache in my bones, it's unbelievable to me that my bones ache
cause there's no more padding, I've never heard of it...that being said..
I wouldn't change these aches for anything..I guess these are our "new" aches
to replace the old aches and pains we had at our heavier weight!!!
as for sleep positions I'm a side sleeper was a stomach sleeper till my pregnancies, now the stomach doesn't feel right..
I flip and flop from side to side when the aches start, and I've actually woken up on my back
which is weird since I've never been a back sleeper, but I also realize I have no aches on my back...
I'm also going to look into a memory foam or pillow top..but only a twin
( the beds gonna look lopsided and weird but no one sees it anyway)
b/c the hubby although he lost 110 w/VSG and is having the same tailbone issues as me
( that can be another thread LOL) isn't having sleeping problems..
as a matter of fact he used to ROCK THE HOUSE snoring..now I check him cause he sleeps like the dead!
