question
so first of all, i will start by saying i am doing much better now that i started soft foods again. i am now 7 wks post op; however, the doctor told me to start regular foods 3 wks ago. a lot of problems i had was with regular foods so i started doing the soft foods again, and all is great again!
on to my question: for the past 4 kws, i have been losing only 2 lbs a wk. i guess my concern is that is this normal? my co-worker worked for a bariatric clinic and she says she finds it odd also that i've only been losing 2 lbs a week lately. i thought for sure i'd be losing around 5 lbs a week. i am not sure if it's because i lost nearly 50lbs in under 4 mos prior to the surgery or what. should i be concerned?
thanks!

You are doing GREAT! 2lbs a week is just fine. Everyone's metabolism is different. I know its frustrating sometimes. You see people on these boards and they are jumping for joy 'yay...I've lost 6 lbs in a week' or whatever. As hard as it is, you can't judge yourself with those same rules.
You are doing fabulous! Keep it up the excellent work.

From what I have observed here on OH, the more you lose pre-op, the slower you lost post-op. Also, if you have a lower BMI you will lose slower. Just stick to your rules and you will continue to lose. Remember this is a marathon, not a sprint!

Marcie, You are doing Great at 2# a week, everyone loses differently according to body type and how you weight is distributed. I was losing properionately but my Dr, today said my legs are the biggest part of me now . Was that a compliment? He also told me I look younger than some of his pt.s with my condition who are in their 40's WoW looking 20yr.s younger isn't bad! I have lost now from the top down. Keep up the good work a wise failed bandster once told me stay focused, appreciate what you have and the turtle Won the Race slow and steady! I'm finding that to be true ,keep to the rules, support your body with the fuel and nutrients and liquids it needs and slowly the results will amaze you daily. We didn't gain the weight overnite so it takes time and patience to lose it again. I've found in my journey losing more slowly has allowed my body to adjust and shrink better with less hanging skin than when I lost faster and got my Batwings under my arms.
