Having the baby soon!
Hey Misty,
I've been thinking about you. Gabriel can't wait for his girlfriend to come out and meet him!! lol Too bad it isn't scheduled for Wednesday, that's my bday! But close enough. Get plenty of rest now! You will soon loose a lot of sleep. If anyone offers to help in any way, take it. Don't try to be a superwoman. The time will come soon enough that you will have ALL the responsibility. So take advantage while people are offering. Go with the flow. Keep an open mind to the changes occuring (specifically about labor & delivery). Start practicing typing with one hand (you will want to get online and cutie Aliyah won't be having any of that !) Let Corey be involved, don't be afraid to ask him to do something, either with the baby or household stuff. You will be setting a precident. My bestfriend regrets trying to do it all, and not asking her husband to pitch in. Now she has 5 kids & he has come to expect her to take care of things. I have to force myself to ask/let Rick do things, or I find myself becoming overwhelmed. After about a week, when all the visitors have tapered off, you may find yourself wiped out and maybe some depression. It is completely normal; ask for help or just someone to talk to or a shoulder to cry on. Don't feel ashamed, I went through it. And unfortunately the worst day for me was mother's day! Cried all day long, but Rick was great. Give breast feeding an honest attempt, but don't beat yourself up if it doesn't come together. Rent a hospital grade pump, if you don't already have one. The rep can see you in the hospital. That way if she has trouble latching on, you will at least be prepared. If you have to cont to pump, you can rent it longer or they offered me a discount to buy one.
That's all I can think of right now. If a lightbulb comes on I'll repost. I'm sure April can add a few things. Just enjoy your time to yourselves right now, then enjoy little Aliyah when she gets here! Take care and good luck. If you need anything, or need to ask anything, don't hesitate. ~~Elena & Gabriel

Misty, I'm so excited for you! I doubt you'll make it to Monday though!! Get as much rest as possible... I know easier said than done. Elena gave you some great advice! I would add.... when you feel overwhelmed...just follow your insticts. I was so overwhelmed in the beginning...do I follow the advice from books? or from the doctors? or from friends and family? Especially when it came to breastfeeding. Do what you feel is comfortable. Get Corey to help out as much as possible and take time for yourself...by yourself...whether it be a nice warm shower or a good nutritious meal. That will help more than you know. Don't hesitate to call me! I'm just right down the road from you :-)
