Help!! I think I have over read!!  I'm so confused as to what I need to get at the store to have when I come home I don't know what to do.  Yesterday I received the sample bag of protein from Batiatric.com(?).  I purchased the ice trays and have some chicken breast cooked and frozen in the freezer to puree.  Someone mentioned adding some spaghetti sauce to make the chicken real moist.  Is there some sauce better then others? Also, people have mentioned black beans with salsa.  Here again, which salsa?   I want to do as much as I can ahead to make it easier on my DH and other family members that will be around.  I sure want to start out on the right foot, but right now I don't know which foot that is B

The best thing to do is talk to the nutritionist at your surgeon's office.  They know the approved program for your surgeon and remember that each one has different ideas.  I am sure they would be glad to help you out. darlene

Hey Baboo!

Breathe deep and relax!  You aren't going to be able to eat very much at first anyway.  You will be concerned most with staying hydrated.  As long as you have some protein and some water...you will be just fine.  As for sauces...always look at sugar and fat content.  Your new little tummy is going to be a bit fussy until it is properly healed.  Treat it gently during the pureed stage.  Each person is different and your tastes will change after the surgery.  Just relax and be kind to yourself.  Personally, I enjoyed scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, egg custard and warm protein drinks.  I also ate turkey chili almost every day.  Those things tasted good to me and went down easily.  Your tummy will let you know if it is happy or not.

If you need us...just holler and we will be there for you!

Freddie

Thanks sooooooooooooo much.  I'm already finding that warm broth taste better to me then any other liquid.  I think the warmth just feels good.  I seem to be more cold natured these last 2 weeks.  Is the turkey chili something I can just buy at the store and then puree?  My family keeps asking what they can do when I come home to care of me (aren't I the lucky one), so I'm trying to come up with things to have on hand for them to either puree, heat up or both. I make my own turkey chili and freeze it in little 1/2 cup Glad containers.  Just use your favorite chili recipe and instead of beef, use ground turkey.  If you need a recipe...holler! You will want to be a bit lazy but personally, I never went "to bed,"  I just lounged around more than normal and let my sweet husband wait on me.   F
