2 year Surgiversary!!

Yesterday was my 2 year surgiversary. Wow, what a 2 years it has been. I am so blessed to have been able to have this surgery. There were a lot of ups and downs but it was all worth it in the end and I can honestly say I would do it all over again without hesitation.  I started this journey with a BMI of 50.1 and weighed 310 pounds. I was 25 years old and living with diabetes, sleep apnea and several other health problems. I had a goal weight of 155 for a normal BMI and I got down to153 before becoming pregnant. That put me in a normal BMI range of 24.6. I was normal, at goal and lost half of my weight!!! I am not going to say was because I know I will be there again. I started with wearing clothes in a size 26 and got down to a size 8. And becoming pregnant has been a big WOW for me as well. It was one of the main reasons for me to have this surgery. I wanted to get healthy enough to start a family and I know had I gotten pregnant while being obese and dealing with my health conditions then it would have been a very hard pregnancy for me and my baby. I am so happy that I am now healthy and can hopefully live a long and healthy life!! Another big wow was completing my 1st 5k marathon last year. That was a huge accomplishment for me and I have never been so proud of myself. I hope to start back on that track and completing more once I have the baby. I don't think I could have walked a 5k before surgery without passing out and being in pain and I now I was able to jog a 5k. I know I still have a busy year or two ahead of me since I would like to pursue plastic surgery to get rid of my excess skin. That would allow me to consider my journey complete. I never thought I would pursue plastic surgery but I have worked so hard to get the weight off and I owe it to myself to feel like a "normal" person my size looks. I have learned so much from this surgery and it really is true when they say it is a lifestyle change. I can't believe how much differently I look at food everyday. I eat to live and not live to eat. I love eating healthy and I have learned so much from this journey. I have met some great friends from this site and many have been true inspirations. I can't thank everyone enough for sharing their stories for me and others to read and relate too. It has made all the difference in the world to know others go through the ups and downs just like me and are their to tell the stories and offer advise and support. Thanks! Happy surgiversary to me!!
