Still binge eating sugar after LApband

I had LApband surgery in June 2006, lost 48 pounds in 3 months. I was working out 4days week, eating right. Then I got into serious depression and learned that while I could no longer each large amounts of normal food, I can eat a ton of sugary stuff, it goes right down. I had an eating disorder before the surgery, and apparently still do.I can't stop with the sweets. I put back on 14 pounds, and have re-lost about 5 of that. I thought the surgery was a way to quit yoyo-ing. I'm frustrated and wondering if maybe I shouldn't have had the bypass, but it's too late now. Does anyone know of free eating disorder support groups (not O/A or 12-step please) in Nashville area? Vanderbilt has groups but it's mostly pre-op people, and I need to talk to people who are or have been where I am. I do have a therapist but she doesn't specialize in eating disorders (I love her to death and wouldn't think of leaving her at this point. She is great at helping with my biploar disorder).Much thanks, Cutiecat

There is a group called Over eater's Anonimous that meets and I belive it is free. My doctor told me about this group before I even considered surgery. You can check with your Doctor and they may have details on how to attend the meetings.

Does Vandy have a Lapband support group? I'm sure you would find some people who have struggled with this in a support group. If they don't, I know The Metabolic Surgery Center at Baptist has a support group for Lapbanders that you would be welcome to become a part of. You can also call Centennial Center for the treatment of obesity - 342-1231. They have support groups at Centennial and Evelyn Frye, the psychologist, does one group. Perhaps you can find out about these... not sure if there is a charge for people who have not used the group but the top of my head, I dont think so.
