Oh My Aching Back!

I went to the Spine Center today for a consultation. I told him that I have lost 75 pounds and it seems the more I lose, the more my back hurts! And I have been told for years I would feel BETTER if I lost weight! haha But he said that he sees this a lot with people who have lost a lot of weight. Evidently the body gets adjusted to carrying all the excess and that the mechanics of my back need some adjusting... I think its the muscular parts. Now I had raised the question another time, and not many knew the answer, but I guess we can chalk this up to gastric bypass experiences... so if your back hurts, even your hips, rear, lower, middle or upper, even your neck, it could need some adjusting due to all the years its had to carry the weight around... Just thought I would let you all know. I will go Monday for some type of treatment plan.... but til then, I am taking some liquid tylenol. Also, there is a good liquid Tylenol out for adults called rapid blast. It does not have granules of sugar in it, and also is flavored with sacharin and "corn syrup" instead of "high fructose corn syrup."

I have not lost near as much as you (lap band) and my back (just under the ribs) has started to hurt too. Thanks for the answer on this one. I knew my muscles were out of shape but I never thought about the ones that hold me up right are out of shape too. Your doing great, keep up the good work.

wow.... certainly seems you can't win for losing hahaha But I'm sure everything will eventually straighten things out on their own. My hips on occassion do feel sore but I don't know if it is from exercise I do or the weight loss...perhaps a combination of the two. Congratulations on the 75lbs lost. That is wonderful!

Hi Mel, thanks for the information, I see a Chiropractor 2-3 times a week for adjustments. He won't do anything that has to do with my midsection because of the intense burning pain. But he does do a great job getting the tension out of me and getting those abused muscles a good rub down. Can't take Tylenol because of the chemo, I have to take hydromorphone. I would never have realized the pain from the weight baring muscles would need to be readjusted. Love Kathy
