ACORDIA INSURANCE now I've got BAD NEWS!?!?!?

Hi Everybody, I posted last week that I had recieved word that Acordia insurance would pay for my surgery. They would require 6 months Drs. supervised weight loss attempt. Also lots of forms and paperwork. That would be fine with me. I set my Drs. appointment for this past Wednesday I'm setting in the Drs. office my cell phone rings. It's my insurance coordinator telling me that Acordia just called, there was a mistake made in approving my surgery. The surgery is now excluded! I was devasted, disapointed, and P.O.ed. I have yet to recieve a copy of my insurance summary plan description. I have requested one from my H.R. department and also the Insurance copmany (acordia). I called the insurance company today I was refered to the section manager who was convientley out of the office all day. I also faxed an appeal letter. I have proceded with my alternate plan of self payment. That too will take some time so I will continue to work on both fronts. I started to post earlier in the week but decided I should calm down. I feel better now I will not give up. I just needed to vent. Thanks, Steve

They just can't let it be easy, can they? I hope your appeal is approved immediately. I think you've really developed exactly the right attitude that's going to take you to victory. URRRRR that makes me mad too, Steve! I hate it that insurance companies will not cover the procedure. Smokin mad! I hope you are able to fight them. Maybe you should check out ObesityLaw.com and find a way around their "exclusion". Good luck.
