Memory problems

It seems like I have been having more "brain farts" the past few days. Is this normal?? I'll be thinking of what I want to say and blank all of the sudden in mid sentence. Could it be the problems with my anti depressants? or my change in diet? Thanks.

It is the change in diet most likely. Carbohydrates are needed for proper brain function and support. As post ops, we focus on protein and we avoid carbohydrates like the plague (or at least we're suppose to). I recently learned this in the graduate level nutrition class I took this past semester. It certainly explained a lot for me! I have a hard time remembering things. One time, I forgot which street to turn onto to get home! I kept saying to myself, now is it this street or that street LOL now that's a little scary. I think it will resolve itself the longer you're out from surgery as your body adjusts to its calorie intake. Hope that helps! April

Hi April, thanks for clarifying that. I too thought it was from my anti-depressants. But with my leukemia I was beginning to think it was affecting the brain. I constantly forget somethin in mid sentence, or go to a room and wonder what I went in that room for. Now I know I'm not crazy. Love Kathy
