I go see my surgeon today for my 1 year check up. My actual 1 year anniversary is the end of the month but this is when they set me up to see Dr. Spaw. I saw my PCP on Monday and had him also draw the labs for my surgeon so he would have the results when I see him. I called yesterday to get the results and everything was great except my vitamin D. It has dropped back down to 20 so my doctor is putting me back on 50,000 units once per week for 8 weeks. I went through this before surgery with a level of 13 and was on 50,000 units twice per week for 20 weeks so it is not something that is related to the surgery. Since my PCP has me bring in all of my meds each visit (more vitamins than medications now ) he noticed that the Calcium Citrate I have been taking does NOT contain vitamin D. I had gotten this last bottle at Sam's and hadn't noticed that when I bought it. So for the past 2-3 months the only vit D I've gotten has been in my multi and from natural sources. Lesson learned - check to make sure the vitamin includes what you need. FYI - hbA1C was 5.5 cholesterol - normal (actually he said "Great"), everything else was normal.

Way to go Susan. I know about the Vit D. It is so hard to make sure everything is where it is supposed to be. Congrats to you!!!!! Paula

That's certainly good news Susan! Vitamin D is pretty easily restored back to normal levels. You can actually get Vit. D from sunlight exposure (I'm sure you knew that). Take your lunch outside on pretty days... I'm sure you'll get your levels back up in no time! April

Great job Susan...except you gotta pay attention. I am so picky about my vitamins my husbands refused to try to pick them up for me. Hopefully all will be well soon. Take care of yourself. Keep us informed. Beth B. in Chattanooga

Hey girlfriend, I'm finally back on line. I had my one year check up yesterday with Dr. Colquitt. I have lost 141 lbs, and between my upper abdomine, waist, and hips a total of 57 1/4" inches gone, that's not counting what I lost in my face, neck, arms, bust, or thighs, they never got measured. I'm 6 lbs from my goal. Today I put on a size 10 misses in Levi's and they are a little baggy as I have no butt to keep them up. He said he was concerned because all my blood levels dropped way below normal where I am rejecting the chemo pills, but they did another CBC yesterday (thursday, I saw him on Wednesday) and I called and let his nurse know and my Oncologist's nurse faxed a copy to show him my blood levels this week are back in the normal range, including my cholest. B-12, potassium, every looks great. I am excited for you too. How much have you lost in the first year, I know you told me when we had lunch but I don't remember, so much has been going on the last few days. I have so much to tell you, but it will come in a regular email. Too much to put in a message. Love ya, and congradulations for a great follow-up. Kathy
