Updating profile...how?

How can I update my profile, there's some places that I've found that I can't edit. Not sure how to get nice backgrounds, etc. Can anyone school the technically, heavily medicated sick and shut in? lol. Thanks. -Alyssa

If you find out I want to know how to change the photo on my front page. I change it and it goes back to the same one!!!
