Anyone sell car insurance?
OK, so this is COMPLETELY random, but I need to ask a couple of questions to someone who sells insurance (car) in Tennessee. I won't waste everybody's time by going into too much detail, but it is regarding an accident I was involved in right before Christmas. My family and I were in my brother's truck seeing the Christmas lights at Bristol Motor Speedway and we were backed-in-to by a driver from Tennessee. The hit did considerable damage to my brother's truck and now ts kind of turned into a hit-and-run incident (the woman refuses to return our calls). It would help me TREMENDOUSLY to speak with someone who is familiar with car insurance claims in Tennessee (I'm in North Carolina). Thank you all so much!

Hi,
I sure don't sell but I would think if you have her name/phone # the police & his insurance would take over.

Were the police called? If the damage appeared to exceed $750 and the police were not called, your brother would also be guilty of leaving the scene of an accident. If initial damages appeared to be less than $750 you will not be penalized for not calling the police.
Either way, it will probably be easier to go through your own insurance company and have them go after the other driver. You will have to pay your deductible and when your insurance company recovers from her insurance they will refund your deductible to you.
If you got the woman's insurance information, I would call the company directly and notify them of the accident.
Good luck!

thank you both so much for your responses.....its really a tricky situation....we were in the middle of the bristol lights (on a slight hill) and this woman in front of us let her expedition roll back into my brother's truck....nobody was hurt, but we could tell there was some damage done by the hitch on the back of her vehicle....since we were blocking traffic, my brother quickly wrote down her tag # and all of the information on her driver's license....she said she didn't have insurance.....when we got into the infield of the speedway (where they have food, games, etc), we asked the security guards to call the police....they said it would take the police a really long time to get into the infield due to the number of cars there for the lights....they suggested when we leave to follow each other out of the speedway and once we got past the exit to stop in the parking lot and then call the police to access the damage....so, my brother, being the kind-hearted guy that he is, told the woman to go and enjoy the games with her carload of kids and just to give him a call on her cell when she was ready to leave and we would follow each other out of the speedway.....well, wouldn't you know it, she up and left and never called my brother....we just missed her by a few minutes, so we immediately called the bristol police department....they met us, wrote up a report, and that leaves us where we are right now....the woman refuses to answer our MANY phone calls and the damage was estimated to be around $800......any suggestions on what to do next? we believe the vehicle is registered in her boyfriend's name and he should have insurance, the trouble is we don't know how to go about finding out who the insurance is thru......i don't know much about these things, and i really want to help my brother out (he is just 23, trying to put himself thru college, and can't afford to fix the truck himself)......i'm just kind of stuck i guess....thank you all for your advice though!

Just looked at your profile page, Girl, you look great. Did you have the tummy tuck? Did you get to try out for American Idol?
Ellen
Give all the information you have to your (brother's) insurance agent. Let them see what they can do. After all, that's one of the reasons we pay for insurance.
If she was driving without insurance, that, along with leaving the scene of an accident, will get her some bi-i-ig fines. The police report should be able to show you who the owner of the other car is and give you an address. Or, you can always call the Bristol police dept. and explain the situation to them, i.e. she refuses to answer phone calls, return calls, etc. See what they can do to help.
Good luck!!!
