Spoke with Kym by phone tonite. I was starting to worry cause I had not heard from her since the 21st. She is doing better than she realizes, but beating herself up because she thinks she should be progressing quicker. Her surgery was 12/11 and she is on puree. She can already tolerate 3 oz of tuna! I think that is amazing. She feels that she is constantly drinking and eating to get in protein and water. I told her that was normal too! She is even walking stairs at home. Knowing the seriousness of her surgery, I know that she is doing exceptionally well. But I need your help to encourage her. She promised me she will get back on line soon so if you read this, please leave her a note and tell her how those first few weeks went for you. All she knows is what she is going thru and letting it get her down. She felt a little better when I told her I had a hard time with fluids and protein. So share and we can help her thru this rough time! Thanks bunches everyone! Paula /

For Kym, I was walking around my house when I got home. I never even got to the stairs. You are doing so well. I could not even get in all my water or protien for the first three to four weeks. I am still after 8 weeks out only getting 1-2oz. in right now. You are doing so well. On the day I got my staples out when I got home getting out of the car, I ripped my side open again. Then the next night I pulled something on my left side that had me back in the bandage around my waist for another two weeks and I could not hardly walk without holding my side and my stomach at the sametime. Heck I wish I could do as well as you did. You are doing so well. Way to go! Keep your chin up, you have come a long way. Way to go and Welcome to the losing side. Keep on the postive side you are so losing and working the surgery. I am so happy for you. Keep on walking those stairs. Never give up! You go! You are a winner! Way to go! Your friend, Tina

Hey, Kym - it sounds like you're really doing well! I think most of the people I've heard of have a period of time right after the surgery where they kind of wish they hadn't done it. From what I've heard, that turns around pretty durn quickly! Remember, you've had major surgery - be nice to yourself! You wouldn't let someone say discouraging things to someone who had just had surgery, would you? Love Dennie

Go Kym Go! You are doing great. Sure you will feel some better everyday. I know you had it rougher than most but it will be worth it. I have heard you can really get down the first month. You have a cheering group behind you here. Good luck, Ellen

Hey kym, sorry I couldn't make it down to see you, but you were and are in my thoughts daily. I can't begin to understand what you are going thru. No more then anyone else can understand what I go thru on a daily basis with chemo and having leukemia. But i know you are a strong person, a Christian, and I know that you are in great hands. God is watching out for you. You've come a long way, and yes some set backs, but all this will pass. You can do this, so keep your chin up, do what you can each day and it will get better for you. I promise you that. I have something for you, and will get it in the mail this week when I go pay the dreaded bills. Know that we are thinking of you, and that you have a lot of prayers going out for you. Love you, Kathy
