? here regarding Christmas baking
Hi everyone, since I don't work, I am in charge every year to make the fudge, cookies, umpking breads, banana breads, date/nut chew balls. Has anyone tried making the fudge with splenda instead of regular sugar and have it come out the same or better? Processed sugar doesn't bother me, but I curious about tis. I have one recipe that calls for 2 boxes of powdered sugar. I know there is a way of blending splenda and corn starch to make powdered sugar, but I can't remember where I put it. I think my brain has old timers disease, I have a hard time remember where I put something, then find it when I dont need it anymore. Maybe since the rest of me is shrinking so fast, that my brain is too, who knows, I just know I have a hard time remembering something and then it will come to me later.
Merry Christmas everyone. Love and Prayers, Kathy
you might want to try going to www.splenda.com to look for a fudge recipe. Also, google sugar free fudge. I know it can be made... I just don't know how! lol Good luck. I'm baking regular full fledge sugar stuff. I've learned to moderate my intake of crap like that lol I can have just a bite of something and be satisfied... then I promptly jump on the treadmill to work it off.
I just completed a graduate level nutrition class... I made an A too
Anyways, I read that lack of carbohydrates in the diet affect memory because carbohydrates are needed for brain function which is why the dietary recommended intake is at 130 grams per day just for that purpose. I too have been having slight memory loss issues.... I forgot which street to turn down to go home one night a few weeks ago! Anyways, try adding some healthy carbs (fruit and veggies) to your diet.. if you can get them down.
April

Still having that problem of getting food down. I would rather have grapes or cut up apples, even popcorn. But when My oldest son has his family in the area, friends, and his mother-n-law, sister-n-law, and minor brother-n-law living with them, I do the baking. They all work, so it will be done either on Friday or by Saturday so it will stay fresh.
There are times I will be in the store and hear people complain about the price of grapes per pound or the some other fruit, but not think a thing about loading their cart with tons of junk food. I would rather have seedless grapes then all the junk food. I even bought various dry fruits, but my dentures can't chew them. So I will be making a friend of mine a can of trail mix from all the dry fruits and add some mixed nuts in with it. He loves snacking on things like that vs eating fudge, now he won't turn down my pumpkin bread or banana bread. But when it comes to chocolate things, he would rather have fruits and I have a food dyhrator to make some.
I'll see you soon. Love Kathy
