am i okay? (copied from main board)
I am confused....I am 2 weeks post op today and got to start on pureed early because I was doing well. I have lost 37 pounds...32 post op....anyway...I haven't had ANY problem with food! I did one scrambled egg with ff cheese at bfast, 3 oz can of tuna w ff miracle whip at lunch.... no problems! Should I just thank God and continue or did I eat too much? I didn't get nauseous ..... I did drink with food...i FORGOT!! I had some sharp pains, felt kinda like killer gassies, below my left breast-above the main suture spot...what was that? Was it a gassie or a food thiing? I am really afraid of eating the wrong stuff too soon;. Dr. Houston and my Nut are wayyyy more strict than several other's I have read about and what I ate was on the list I have...just expected more trouble
BTW,,,,,I really want to chop up some grilled chicken, toss on some spiced up tomato sauce and some FF mozzerella for supper.....bad idea or ok on first day???
Thanks y'all!
Kendra,
Congratulations on your weight loss. If I were you, I would do exactly what Dr Houston and your Nut suggests. I would go by there lists. He is an excellent Doc. Regardless of how lenient someone else says their doc is, you need to listen to yours. Go slow and stay with your nutritional plan.
Good luck to you and your journey!
Paula
Hi Kendra,
I too have Dr. Houston as my surgeon and yes they are pretty strict but it is for our own good!
lol I didn't have ANY trouble eating even though I did anticipate it. To be honest, I never pureed anything. I took really really small bites and chewed it to mush.. so I guess in a sense I was pureeing it. Now, I'm not telling you to do this, but it worked for me. Congratulations on the weight loss... that is amazing! I only lost something like 18lbs my first month lol I was sooo frustrated but I'm much happier now! Are you going to the Christmas party Centennial is hosting?

Hi Kendra:
I am post op six weeks. I had Lap Band Surgery. Dr. Dyer, who is in with Dr. Houston, was my surgeon. The three Doctor's there, I believe, have the same diet for everyone. You are doing great, but I didn't do that well. Just last week, I was put back on liquids, because, I was vomiting. Dr. Houston is great, he operated on two of my friends, with RNY, one of them did exactly what he said, and has lost 103 pounds, since the last of August. The other one has lost, but, she has been in the hospital twice since her surgery, around the 8th of October. She was dehydrated, and malnourished, but she did have a stricture. Since the stricture repair, she has been more careful. You might should call the office, and talk to the nutrionist, or maybe, you shouldn't, because Dr. Houston, then would know, that you had skipped some of the stages. Good luck, and hang in there! God Bless You!
