At my consultation my surgeon told me I didnt need to lose any weight before surgery. That was Sept. 27th. On Sept 26th I had been to my PCP and they added another diabetic medication. Nov 6th or so I went for weigh in and surgery date. I had gained almost 15 pounds by this time. Nothing was said. Since that visit I have gained probably about 5 or 6 more pounds. I have not been shoving food in my face by no means. I went to my PCP and asked him if the amaryl(diabetic) meds could be making me gain weight he said they very well could be. I go see my surgeon for the last time the 13th and have surgery on the 26th. Does anyone think my weight gain will affect my surgery date? I'm kinda nervous about this. I havent gained by eating like crazy thats for sure. I wonder if I need to do some kind of liquid diet before going to see him on Wednesday......any suggestions or opinions???????? Sorry this is so long!

Dear Michelle: My surgery was on Oct. 28 or 26, I can't even remember. However, my surgeon, put me on a diet, either 7 or 10 days before my surgery. I would check with my surgeon. I have also, been, taken off of my diabetic medication, since my surgery, because, my blood sugars, had dropped so low. So, good luck! Talk to you soon! ksm [email protected] Kathie

You will have to check with your surgeon My doc put me on a liver shrink diet I think she called it, very easy to stick to and lost 21 lbs in 2 weeks Just do what they tell you and you will be great and good luck to you. Your life will never be the same. Enjoy, at first it is a little hard getting use to the soft food and pureed food but what a little sacrifice for a new way of life. So just stay focused on your weight loss and your new journey , all the best to you. Had my surgery May 2005 lost 220 and still losing. Susi
