2 Questions-kids + Magic Bullet
Okay guys, two questions for ya...1. How did you prepare your kids for your surgery? I am having mine at Centennial and I just read that kids under 12, mine is 8, can't come during the week. My daughter is attached to my hip and while she knows Mom is going to be gone for surgery, I don't know how she is going to handle a separation of probably 3 or 4 days.
2. For those of you who have Magic Bullets, what is a good price for one? I have found one at CVS for $59 but wanted to make sure it was a good price before I got it.
Thanks for the help as always!!!
I tried to explain to my daughters who are 6 and 8 the basics of the surgery. I told them that mommy wanted to be healthy so I could play with them more and that the doctor was helping me by making my stomach smaller. I let them know how long I would be in the hospital and assured them evrything would be alright. They were and still are very supportive. Not to sure about The Magic Bullet but I have heard others say they paid aroound that price.
Hey chickie. I think I had told you at dinner that day that I suggest a video camera. If you know anyone that has one, you can take short videos and send them to someone who can show them to the kids that you are ok. Even some cell phones do short videos. Just so they can see you ok.
The Bullet usually runs for around 60. There is a great knockoff called the bellacina bullet that kohls carries for around 30 dollars. Alot of people like it just as well. I also have the hamilton beach personal blender. It is not as good as the bullett and wont go in the dishwasher, but it was under 20 dollars.
Hope this helps.

I don't know about the kiddos... I'm sure it will be hard on her, but I suppose stressing the fact that mommy is having a surgery to make her better and skinny might help her understand.
As for the bullet.... I didn't puree anything. I ate a lot of soft things in very small bites and chewed very well. Mostly eggs (scrambled or as egg salad), cottage cheese, soft cheese, and lunch meat rolled around fat free cream cheese (again, chewed very well). Which, I'm not telling you to do or anything... I'm just saying you may not even need it.
I ditto Paula's suggestion about the video camera!
As for the Magic Bullet...Bed, Bath & Beyond and Linens & Things are running 20% off coupons right now. That knocks 12 dollars off of the $59.99 price making it $48. I can tell you, it's worth every penny.
I had a cheaper knock-off just before my surgery and it didn't last 3 months.
Looking forward to seeing you Saturday.

It's on my Christmas list. Since it's just me, and I hate having to cook as I hate even more having to do the dishes. But for a while I won't be having to worry about that. I won't be doing anything in my kitchen or apartment.
Kym May God be with you on Monday, you'll be in my prayers and thoughts. I was to be admitted back into Blount Memorial in Maryville, which is just south of Knoxville, but I have to pick up my chemo pills. Dr. Colquitt has me already admitted, and I have to be in the hospital tomorrow before noon.
Merry Christmas and you may borrow my losers seat on the bench as I will be tube fed and in the hospital until he finds out what is causing me to drop my weight so fast, I have lost 37 lbs since I saw him in August. Since Jan. I have gone from 277 to 145 today. And I am not even trying to lose weight, but it he feels there is a cancer growing and feeding off the excess skin, and it may be on the outside of my throat that no one has even checked, but I start choking on food, I'm only getting in maybe 15 ozs of water, some tea, and a little lowfat eggnog and that's been it for over a month. So I will be tube fed and if he finds the problem, I may be tube fed the rest of my life. I am too thin right now and have no coloring. I look like deathbed warmed over.
My hands, face, and my lost butt barely has any skin on them. I am anemic and he plans on putting me on fresh blood even though my blood levels are in normal range. He is going to be giving me fresh blood to get some coloring back into my skin, and all my medications will be put into a tube that will be in my pouch just for that reason. He won't say when he will be letting out of the hospital, he said it could be 2 weeks, to 3 months. I am hoping to talk him into getting out the Friday prior to Christmas so I can spend it with my family as long as I am back in the hospital on the 26th.
Keep your prayers coming. I am not looking forward to this at all. Love Kathy
