newbie

Hi, I thought my previous post had gone through, but I guess not.. I am scheduled for lap band surgery on Dec. 21 with Dr. Morton at Baptist Hospital. I am excited and a little nervous, but more nervous for exams next week! Has anyone had the surgery with Dr. Morton as their surgeon? Also, how was it? I am most afraid that I will not lose even after the surgery. I have tried so many things and this is almost a last ditch effort type of thing. Anyway, this looks like a great message board and an even better board. Look forward to posting more and getting to you know you all.

Sorry I can't give you any info on the band or on your doc...I am having open RnY on Monday with Dr. Houston at Centennial Women's Hospital so different surgery and different doc...but I just wanted to say that you have definitely come to the right place for support! Glad to have you on board, or on the board, lol!

Just wanted to send you a warm welcome and say hello. I also had Gastric Bypass through Vanderbilt so I'm sorry I can't answer your questions but hope you continue to post!

Hi J.P., I just wanted to welcome you to the board and wish you the best of luck. I too had the fear of not being able to lose weight even after surgery and there for a while I actually thought I wasn't. Then, one day, I woke up and looked in the mirror and was shocked by what I saw. Even today, I sometimes think this has all been a dream and I'll wake up super morbidly obese again lol! Even though weight loss is much faster for gastric bypass patients than the band... as long as you follow your docs recommendations you'll do great Take care, april

Hi Newbie, welcome to our great board. I can't help you out on the band or the Dr. as I also had the gastric bypass. But like April said as long as you follow your surgeons rules and dietary list, you will lose and you will feeel great about yourself. You won't lose as fast as the gastric bypass, but you will lose.
