I haven't been getting in my protein. I can't hardly eat. I feel like I am going to throw up just thinking about food, looking at food, smelling food. I wish I never had to eat again! I hate most food. Can't stand eggs anymore, or cheese, or tuna, salmon, you name it. What am I going to do

I'll bring you a protein smoothie this evening and see if you might be able to slowly eat that. Sometimes, if something is too cold or too hot or just smells different it can make you not feel well. We'll figure something out. What stage of the diet are you on and what types of things are on your approved list? Are you allowed to use the NSA Carnation Instant Breakfast? I know that is what I was on for the first 3 weeks post op and it was a good alternative when I just couldn't stand regular food. I actually still use it as a snack! I'll knock on your door this evening around 6:30 or so. Toni

Hi Melinda, sorry you aren't feeling well. Don't worry, I can't stand the smell of eggs or tuna either. Shrimp I can handle, chicken, soup beans, or cottage cheese, refried beans all are high in protein too. What you are going to do is take a deep breath. Drink the smoothy that is being delivered to your door. Have you tried even just a little bit of mashed potatoes? Have you spoken to your Dr.'s office or the nutrionist about this? They might be able to help you. Keep us informed on how you are doing. You're in my prayers. Love Kathy

Dear Melinda: I saw your cry for help, I am right there with you girl! I have been sick for four weeks, and I have asked many times for recipes on the message boards. I hate eggs, tuna, chicken and turkey. I have talked to alot of people who have had weight loss surgery, and their diets, are totally different, than what Houston/Dyer/ and Olsten give us. It amazes me as to what alot of them eat. Go back on the message board and see if you can get some suggestions. You hang in there. Listen to me, I have already thrown up once today. When I get sick, I just drink the protein shakes, that I buy from Walmart. The Advantacarb shakes, over by the medicine. I think they are 4 for $5.97. I am thinking of you, because I am getting depressed more and more. I am stuck at 17 pounds, but everyone tells me that is great for Lap Band patients. God Bless You! Mrs. Canter PS: If there is anything that I can do, please call me at 826-3218.

Hi Melinda, I'm still preop but I did find something on the "over 50s" forum that might help. Look for "Rufus wants to know". They have shared some of their menus for the day. I have a feeling that I'll be the same way after surgery. I can be a really picky eater! Hope you're feeling better soon! Janie
