Topic: New to this
Hi, I first went to a Pulmonary Dr on 6/10/07 for what I thought would be a simple clearance to get my Lapband done. As usual, nothing is that simple! I had a sleep study done 7/10 and got my results via phone yesterday. Now I am waiting to hear from the c-pap machine people, and my next visit to the Dr is August 23rd! I had no idea that I was having problems with my sleep. I guess now I wll have to learn all about this new program . Just one more small setback on my journey. Lisa

Hi Jean, if you want to use the nasal pillows maybe they need to turn down your setting on your machine so that it doesn't blow so hard...that can really hurt...I have heard about the the new head piece you are talking about but I don't know how to get it...you might call the company the makes your machine and see if they know anything about it. hope this helps...good luck, sherri

Hi Mary, I lost over 100 pounds also and I still have to use my c-pap machine but I have graduated to "nose pillows" and my machine has a humidifier built in to it which makes it more bearable...I asked my Doctor for these things...your dr doesn't sound too nice. you might want to consider finding another dr good luck, sherri

Hi Mary, The gear with the mouth piece is called CPAP PRO. If you type it in the site should come up. Check it out - its a freak out! I can't imagine ordering the thing - What if I didn't like it? I will experiment some more. Maybe I just need to get a chin strap. Its such a sexy look at night! I call it a "go YON" look LOL Jean

I had trouble with the nasal pillows also but couldn't stand the face mask. So I re-tried one that has the pillows & they gave me a set of smaller pillows, just in case. Had trouble with the pillows - same as before & what you're having. Tried the smaller set. Works great! Hope this helps.

Topic: 100 pounds gone.... and still need CPAP! DAMN!
I had surgery (first half of a DS) in November '06, I'm 7 months out.... lost a little over 100 pounds and feel pretty good!, but did a repeat sleep study and my settings changed from a 13 to a 12. Not a big change, huh? I'm disappointed..... the pulmonologist was not sooo sympathetic... What do you think? Only fat people have sleep apnea? He asked me. Well, maybe the next 50 or so pounds will improve the apnea.... I can keep hoping! Mary C

I haven't heard of a mouth guard/teeth..... I looked on the Respironics web site and I couldn't find anything similar. If you get a name of this, please post it... I currently use the pillows and I do OK if I use the gradual increase settings and keep the humidifier filled. Occasionally, I forget to check the water each night and I go dry during the night.... OUCH, I'm a crusty mess... Good luck with your search..... Mary C
