Liquids

Any recommendations for non-water alternatives that y'all like? In prep for my surgery I have given up my habit of 2 cans of diet soda per day.

I occasionally have a Crystal Light Energy when I wake up tired, but generally it is a pitcher of Pink Lemonade Crystal Light each day.

I set my personal water goal to 72oz per day, and have been getting in about 80oz on average... I am just bored drinking the same thing all day, every day.

Today at Walmart, I picked up a Cherry Limeade Sparkling Ice bottle for $1 to try it. 0 calories, etc... but lightly carbonated. I won't be able to do this after RNY, correct?

I also picked up a gallon of Diet Arizona Iced Green Tea for something a little different.

Also, do you count only clear liquids when you are keeping track of your 'water' intake? For example, I have 3/4c of Soy Milk every morning with my protein shake...

My NUT says liquid is liquid, and post-surgery even protein shakes count as liquid.  And I add some cashew milk to my Premier Shake every day, so that counts, too.

I like Diet Peach Snapple, but mostly I drink Crystal Lite.  Fav flavors are Strawberry Watermelon, Cherry Pomegranate and Classic Orange.

You'll probably need to avoid caffeine before and for a few months after surgery (ask your NUT or surgeon).  After surgery, you will DEFINITELY want to stay away from carbonation.  I know there are some folks on the board who can tolerate bubbles, but I'm almost 4 months out and even a tiny sip of carbonation makes me want to hurl.

I used Power Ade Zero for a long time but eventually the acidity started to bother me - ditto the Ice drinks. But I can do well with flavored sparkling water, or even taking one of the ice drinks and adding a little bit to a regular size bottle of water for flavor. Helps me get as much in as possible.

I use unsweetened cashew milk with my protein shakes. I drin****d tea, coffee, water, and the cashew milk. I like the Arizona green tea with ginseng and honey, but don't drink it daily.

Early out, I added Mio to Isopure fruity flavored protein drinks. ( I saw someone call them Isopuke in an old thread I found. Hilarious! They aren't great.  )

I woke up in between a memory and a dream...

I'm a fan of the fruit 2O flavored water. Right now I'm on a orange and peach kick. I really hate plain water so I needed something with no calories and no carbonation.

Same here. Our water quality near the oil fields in Texas is literally poisonous at times, so that's a no-go... and the quality of bottled we can get at a reasonable price isn't very quality either!  I will check out Fruit2O if I can find some locally, thanks!

I found 2 things I like to drink. Monster Rehab, low sugar, no carbonation. The downside is all the caffeine.

I also drink Kool-Aid made with Spelnda.

Like lynn, I was hooked on Powerade Zero for the first year, until I got tired of it. The extra electrolytes helped too. It's similar to the Gatorade low calorie, but the Gatorade has 80 calories. That's too much.
