Sorry if TMI here... but my recent FIT test (fecal immunoglobulin test) which is a simple stool test for colon cancer came back abnormal as some blood was detected.  So now they want a colonoscopy and I'm scheduled for June 1st.

I'm waiting to hear back from my doctor about how in the world I'm going to get a gallon of that "liquid plumber" down me on my prep day!

Anyone have experience with this?

I've been wondering the same thing, even though I'm not due for another four years!

It's not easy, but it can be done.  I couldn't choke down the last 12 ounces and gave up.  The doctor said I was clean as a whistle!  Just do the best you can.

I did a liquid only diet a day before the prep day - and since we don't have a stomach- just sipping on that was OK... I started earlier-2-3 hrs earlier to make sure I can drink it all..

Yes, the day before is worse than the day of but !Good News! the products has improved over the years.  Warning, people vary on how fast and intense it goes. Instructions say to start the process in the late afternoon.  I was in the bathroom within a couple of hours of starting.  On the other hand, much to my shock and amazement, my DH still hadn't used the bathroom at bedtime.  The next morning, I looked over at him and said, "well...?"  His reply, "when it finally hit, I could have put out a house fire from fifty feet away."

My dad had one last year.  They have a different prep treatment for bariatric patients, so that should help.  Good luck!

Thanks everyone.  The nurse said she is going to have the doc call me about "alternative" prep options - I was afraid that would mean prepping from the 'other end' - doh!  Now I'm very much hoping that they have an oral treatment for bariatric patients.  Thanks for giving me hope.

Do you know what that prep consists of? My gastroenterologist insisted on regular prep and said that I can start two hours earlier. I still find this to be unreasonable because I had difficulty getting all of it down the last time pre-surgery.
