I was wondering how far along were you before you started gaining weight? I am 12 weeks along and still at the same weight I was when I found out I was pregnant. Which is a good thing for me cause I was told not to gain much weight anyways cause I am still overweight. Just wanted to know when you would actually start gaining?

I ahven't gained a pound since being pregnant. In face I'm still down 8 pounds. I'm 31 weeks and I'm hoping to not gain anything. Good luck!

I asked my OB about this the other day. She said that actually, gaining weight during pregnancy is kind of a misconception. Total weight gain just of the baby, placenta, fluids, etc should be between 8-12 pounds.

If you are already overweight, you don't HAVE to gain weight during pregnancy. The only time it's really ever a worry is if you're underweight to begin with.

I'm only eleven weeks pregnant and went to the doctor today to discover I am still a couple of pounds less than before I became pregnant...but what I find strange is that I weight less...the kid is only a few inches in size...but I have gained two pant sizes already!! Oh well....

I haven't gained a lot or anything, but since I found out in July I have gained 3 pounds. I haven't had any morning sickness or throwing up, but I am as HUNGRY as a cow almost everyday. I find it fascinating what I can eat throughout the day and I swear I have to be gaining weight, but I'm still staying in the 185-188 range. I have an in home nurse through the state that comes every other week for a visit and she said she thinks I might be eating more, but I have to remember the nutrition is mostly probably going to the baby. I'm already starting to show and I can still wear my 14s but I'm hoping not to put on a lot of weight throughout. I have to go back on the 27th and have a bp check done- I bought an at home machine and have been monotoring and everything has been just around normal, so hopefully it stays that way. My kiddos go back to school next Monday!! HOORAY! I'm also enrolled in online schooling and I'm taking a 2 week break from classes. So, I'm hoping that since I'm past my frist trimester on Sunday and will have much more freedom and down time I can start my workouts on the eliptical again or even start taking Miss Bailey with me for afternoon strolls (one of my best friends is in the Army and she's in school til september 9th and I've been the caretaker for her 2yo little girl since July 7th). I know I'm going to miss the little chica, but I will be much less stressed with the kids in school and the baby going to be with her Mommie :) I'll be getting her back in February though cus her mom is going to Afghanistan, so I'm going to have a packed house again right before the baby comes.

I didn't gain until some time in my 2nd trimester, I actually lost about 8 lbs during my first trimester. Don't worry about it. You don't need ot gain weight to have a healthy baby, especially if you start out overweight.

Thanks so much for the replies. I was just wondering..I am assuming what I do eat is going to the baby and I am doing good cause I am not gaining anything which is fine with me. I was curious if its possible to actually maintain your weight the whole time and then after baby is born drop weight under my pre-pregnancy weight. Cause if I maintain you would think cause the baby is going to weight along with other stuff weighting you would think you would drop that weight after the baby.
