Anyone else TTC but still have to lose weight too?
Hello,
Good morning! I just wanted to put this posting because I really think I need some encouragement.
As you seen from my posts, hubby and I are TTC and I am currently on round 2 of Femara, Follistim, Ovidrel.. I still have like 80 lbs to lose but due to my age (41) and the fact that I have had PCOS, we decided to go ahead and try to get pregnant.
However, I have been so concentrated on this treatment that I have forgotten and dropped the ball with still my goal of losing weight. These past few months I have been horrible... I don't eat much (because it's physically impossible) and I don't drink while eating and wait 1 hour after eating to drink anything but I have been eating/snacking on bad stuff....chips and candy and peanuts. I wish my body would dump to a certain degree on sweets but it doesn't.
In the past 7 months I have gained like 15 lbs and I want to continue losing weight... I just can't get myself to stick with it. I know I will.. I just have to get into the psych mode as I was right after surgery of just eating protein, veggies, fruit. For dinner I mostly eat protein and that's it...rarely a very small salad.
I was also exercising a LOT right after surgery..I know that is BIG on losing weight.
I just have to find that in me...tomorrow I am going to restart again waking up early and walking in the a.m. with puppies for like 20-25 mins then going to do some weight training. (I was doing this post op).
Today I planned to do it but 2 nights ago I barely slept so I compensated last night. I also have to prep my breakfast, lunch to bring to work.
I get home late and it's so hot lately that the last thing I want to do is exercise. So, I need to do it before work (like I was successfully doing it post op).
This may sound stupid to ask ...but what is your plan to continue losing weight while trying to get pregnant? Just curious to know...so that I know I am not the only one that is out there trying to do both things at the same time...
I need to concentrate on my weight loss again...maybe that way I also relax more about the TTC treatment.
Take care and have a great day!!!

Some of the RNY ladies might want to chime in on this since I think they've had an easier time continuing to lose weight while pregnant (depending on when they had surgery), but in my opinion, you should only really be trying to lose weight prior to getting pregnant (obviously it will help you conceive, especially if you have PCOS) and then of course, afterwards. While you're pregnant, your goal should be to provide the baby the nutrition it needs, so your focus should be on gaining an appropriate amount of weight for your current BMI. Your OB will probably have a recommendation for you. I still had some weight to lose when I got pregnant and my OB suggested I not gain more than 25 lbs, for example.
Pre-op: 347 High preg. wt: 331 Current: 284 Next goal: 283 Lowest post-op: 276
Me! I'm TTC and trying to lose weight at the same time. I got the green light to TTC from my OBGYN even at my current weight. However, I am very supersized still. I know that the only way I will get pregnant is if I eat healthy and probably lose more weight. However, I am not waiting until I get to a certain number or anything. Once I am *hopefully pregnant* I plan to continue to lose weight while pregnant in that I will continue to eat healthy and stay away from the junk and since I am so big, I will lose weight just by doing that. But it will be healthy weight loss. My goal is to not gain a single pound while pregnant and displace my fat with baby!
I have to say that actively TTC is major motivation to continue to make healthy choices! The "diet" I am following is staying away from sugar foods and most simple carbs altogether. I am trying to not overeat. I'm down between 20-30 pounds in the last couple of months. I have PCOS too, so staying away from sugar is the best way! So far it hasn't been too hard. Like I said, I've got great motivation! I'm horrible at exercising and its way too hot to anyway. I try to be more active in general though - like house work etc.
Good luck TTC and dieting!!!
