Question for those who've had C sections
I've had 3 c-sections and 2 VBAC's and they do it with every one. They want to make sure that your uterus is contracting down to a smaller size so your bleeding slows.
With my last section I had a lot of bleeding (tmi coming up) and they were very concerned about the clots I was passing. The nurses were more gentle.. but they called the doc in because of the softballs I was passing and he was pushing down SOOOO hard on my stomach I thought I would die. I understand that they were concerned and didn't want me to hemmorhage, but it was insanely painful. I think they ended up giving me a shot of something in my belly to help. I continued to bleed badly, but the large clots got smaller over time.
I am so not looking forward to that this time. Be sure to ask them for pain meds before they do their pushing and stuff. It helps a little, but still hurts.
Good luck!

after delivery they do a fundal massage it is for all births its done frequently to ensure its shrinking back down because if its not you could have a piece of a placenta in there or blood clots and the fundal massage helps it contract down and helps prevent excessive vaginal bleeding. its routine so try to make sure you get pain meds if your a section before they do it.

I had bleeding problems after my c-section with Hannah. They hurt me so bad that they had to sedate me 2 or 3 times for me to be able to stand it. I also had to get a shot in my belly. That didn't help. I think they gave me a supository and that finally got my bleeding under control. I came pretty close to having to have a hsyterectomy.
After my c-section with Noah it barely hurt at all when they would "massage" my belly. I didn't have much bleeding with him at all.

Yah my bleeding was BAD TOO! The Dr yelled prep ER for emergency hsyterectomy or DandC!! I FREAKED OUT!! I had shots and they tried to sedate me but it didn't wor****il 1 to 2 hours after he was done digging my placenta out of my uterus with his whole hand up there! (Sorry TMI!) They said okay you need to BF Bella and hold her and I was so out of it I kept dry heaving and passing out! So I was really dissappointed NOT getting to hold my baby until pretty much hours and hours later! It makes me think twice about having another baby!!
