Can't Feel Movement

Hi everyone,

I am starting to worry.......I am 23 weeks along and I don't feel anything.  I have had multiple abdominal surgeries since my RNY.....about 25......is it possible that my nerves are shot in my abdomen and I won't feel anything??

I am not spotting, bleeding, cramping........I still feel the growing pains in my hips and pelvis.......

I did call the OB and he said I was crazy.....I should be feeling something by now. Maybe the baby was moving and I just don't know what I am feeling.

Am I crazy??  I have had a lot of personal stress lately.....and I know that puts the baby under stress, too

Thanks for listening!!

Do not freak out. I didnt feel anything until I was about 25 weeks along (or so I thought). What I found out later on was that I used to get these weird gurgling sounds in my belly after I ate...my OB said those noises was the baby moving around and adjusting air. And the full feeling of movement just hot me one day...not there one day and than bam I started getting kicks and jabs. So hopefully your situation is similar to mine.

I forget - is this your first baby? I think that I was feeling definite movements a little after that point - maybe 24 weeks even then they were tiny. I was told it all depends on where the placenta is, how much extra weight you are carrying, how the baby is positioned etc.

When do you get another ultrasound or Dr appt to listen for the heartbeat?

25 surgeries post WLS?!  Wow...you've really been through the ringer.

I'd say that as long as your dr says you're progressing and your pregnancy symptoms are fine...that things are likely coming along fine.  Ask your dr about doing an u/s or even just listening to the hb next time you're in just to put your mind at ease.  The first time you'll feel your little one, it's more like butterflies in the stomache...just a faint fluttering.  You probably won't feel it if you're up and about, but if you are laying still - maybe on your side? - you're more likely to feel it.  Eventually it'll progress to a definite 'I felt THAT' feeling though.

I had similar situation with both my pregnancies. My daughter was born almost 8 weeks ago and I must tell you I barely felt her for the whole pregnancy. I NEVER felt her kick from the outside, the only times I would feel her was when she was jumping on my cervix.

If it was ease your mind you can rental a fetal Doppler...

Your surgeries have a lot to do with it and placement of the placenta.

Try not to drive yourself crazy.

Good Luck
