IVF and RNY????

Hi There,

I'm Renee* and I am currently going through an IVF Cycle.  I had my RNY Gastiric Bypass 5 years ago, I still follow the rules for the most part and am still very successful at keeping the majority of my weight off.

I misscarried twins 4 years ago due to a blood clotting disorder, which has severley scarred my cervix,  preventing me from naturally getting pregnant.

I have found plenty of IVF message boards but I am just wonding if anyone has done IVF after and RNY.  Just wondering if there's something a little different from the normal protocol.. and just very curious.  I know my Fertility Dr isn't too familiar with RNY, so I am trying to stay on top of everything and hoping to achieve a happy and healthy pregnancy with a little help from modern medicine...

Welcome. There are several women on here who have had IVF and gone on to have healthy pregnancies. I am sure one of them will post their stories/information. Good Luck!

Thanks you ladies for your replies!!!!  I feel so lost..  Before I had my RNY I researched for a year.. I was soo well prepared, I knew what to expect, everything!  I just learned about my Infertility issues last month, and now, I'm already starting my injectibles!!  So I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed and basically lost!!!!

Thanks again,

Renee*

I did not have RNY (I had the DS), but I did have IVF for both of my pregnancies.

The only issues I really had was with my iron levels.   During both pregnancies, I required iron infusions.  I had a series of 3 each pregnancy and that corrected my levels.

I was put on bed rest (modified and then complete) with my twins pregnancy.   I carried my twins to a day shy of 37 weeks and had a vaginal delivery.

My singleton pregnancy went smoothly and I didn't really have any issues.

So, just make sure you get your routine blood work throughout any pregnancy and keep up with that.  I was able to eat just fine and felt like any other normal pregnant woman on the block.

Your IVF cycle will not be different because of your RNY.   One has no bearing on the other.

Best of luck

Thank you so much for the info!!!! I was very concered wtih the wls and ivf.  Now that explains why I haven't been able to find any info about the two together!!!  So that is good news!

My hemotologist already said he wants to see me once a month after the transfer, so he will be watching my iron and monitoring me!

So glad to hear it worked for you and you have three beautiful babies!!!!!!
