birth control

im thinking of using the ring.... what is everyone else using and why?

I have the Mirena IUD.  It's easy I don't have to remember anything and has had no side effects.  Before I had Matthew I tried the ring and I had break through bleeding constantly.  I'd start a period a two weeks before the ring was to come out then once I took it out it would start again.  So I was only getting maybe 1 good week a month where I wasn't spotting or full fledge bleeding.  But, I've heard others had great luck with it.

I LOVED the Ring but if you are going to be trying to get preg. any time soon I wouldnt...it takes awhile for it to get out of your body.

Really?  I took out the ring and 3 weeks later found out I was pregnant.  Weird how different things happen to different people.  I had the IUD and the doctor told me I could get pregnant a month or so after having it taken out.  It took me a year to actually get pregnant.

I used the ring right after my surgery....It was the only thing besides IUD that my dr would allow. Honestly, it was wierd knowing there was a ring in there, and it kinda freaked out the fiance....but...it did its job.  It was a major pain having to constantly take it out for sex (thats not a requirement but my fiance said he could feel it and didnt want it in there) so....yeah.

I think after baby is born we will just use condoms until we are ready for baby 2.  Good luck on whatever you decide!! 

Actually FYI it does not take long to get out of your system - I was on the ring for 3 years and the first month I took it out I got pregnant. Everyone is different....it worked great for me!

I'm currently on the nuva ring...but would suggest Mirena.

Loved my IUD. had it for 5 years with no problems at all.

I used the Mirena IUD after the birth of my 2nd baby and plan on getting it at my 6 wk appt in 3 weeks! I loved it and it made me have no PMS symptoms and I just spotted a day or two each month when I was supposed to have a period- sometimes I wouldn't even get the spotting! I love not having to take a pill or refill a prescription for BC and plus it lasts for 5 years!

I used the nuvaring right after surgery & thought it was great. I also got pregnant really quick after I stopped using it. I haven't decided what I am doing after Rory is born. I will probably use the ring again since we don't want to wait too long to have another baby. (My other option would be the IUD because I am terrible at remembering to take pills).
