Are we considered high risk?

Hi,  I haven't been on here in forever, but will be TTC in a few months and had a few questions.

I am changing OBGYNs shortly and was wondering if I should just go to a high risk Dr.  Are we considered high risk at all b/c of WLS and calorie intake?  Or do we just need to be followed by a nutritionist?

When I eat properly, I eat about 1200 cals, so would 1500 be ok?(adding the 300 they say you need to add for baby). I know I don't get in enough protein as it is so I will probably need to go back to protein shakes :(

Thanks!

Christine

I was not high risk because of surgery but other issues. Think it depends on the ob. Protein is still important and sticking with the NUT is always helpful

My OB did consider me high risk but only so that I could get monthly ultrasounds and monitor baby's growth - fine by me!

My OB, surgeon and NUT recommended 1500-1800 calories, 100 grams of carbs and 90 grams of protein. Also to continue to take my 2 prenatals, B12, calcium and folic acid.

Good luck with TTC!

Nope, not considered high risk here.   Everything is perfectly normal for me as of right now.  I am a lower cal per day intake type person, more int he 1200 range, and I have still managed to gain 18 pounds and have a good sized baby growing!

Good Luck!!!

I see a regular OB. I had to see a high risk OB for my First Trimester Screening. At that appt I was told he wants to see me back starting in May for growth u/s because of my surgery (just to make sure everything is going good. Not cause I really am high risk.) and cause I am old. Old? I am still in my 30's!!!

I was not considered high risk but my OB does have me going for sonograms every 2 weeks just to make sure that the baby is getting big enough because of the surgery.  He is gaining all the weight he needs too!! My Ob did send me to a NUT to make sure I knew what to eat.  My NUT said about 1800 calories a day.  I really don't think I eat that in a day before I got pregnant I was way less than that- I was lucky of I got to 1000 cal a day. But now I do try harder to eat more.

Thanks for the advice.  I guess I will just go to a regular Dr. and see if he sends me to a specialist.

Did you have to go to your surgeon prior to TTC.  I haven been to mine since 3 mo PO and havent had any issues.
