Had my surgery yesterday. They removed 15.2 lbs of skin and tissue. I'm feeling it today for sure. It hurts to move at all, though I'm finally able to stand without getting nauseous or sweaty, which is a huge improvement. Looks like Im on track to leave the hospital tomorrow...

Congratulations on your successful surgery!  That's a lot of skin!  You're going to feel incredible when you heal.

Keep up your protein, vitamins and fluids.  Sleep as much as you can to give your body the opportunity to heal.  Walk to keep things moving and don't forget your stool softeners!  :)

That is a lot of skin and tissue....you will love the results!

The next few days are tough...so rest and try to stay on top of your pain.  Then each day gets better.

Happy healing!

I just had mine done on Monday with a hernia. Came home from the hospital on Thursday. Today (Sat) took a shower and just about passes out!! My girls ages 10 and 12 were grossed out helping me put the binder back on. Just take it easy!!

 Hi Julie,
I was wondering how you were doing and if you were home yet.  I spent 6 days in the hospital and got home a week ago Saturday.   I am jealous that you get a shower!  I have 5 JP drains so only sponge baths for me!  I am finding that each week is a bit better, but the days are variable.  How is your binder?  Do you find it helps a lot?  How long do you have to wear it?  Do you have a lot of swelling?  I have kind of a muffin top right now that I think is swelling.  At 138 pounds on a 5 foot 5 inch frame, the heaviness in my middle just doesn't seem that it should be excess body weight.  I have to ask to doctor about it on Friday.  Let me know how you are doing when you get a chance.

Julie, the trick to a easier shower is to remove your binder 30 minutes prior to shower to allow your blood pressure to stabilize.  I also drank some apple juice or ate part of a protein bar to raise my blood sugar a bit.

My first shower two days post op was a disaster because the nurse got me into the shower too quickly.  Dr. Sauceda taught me the tricks to keep me on my feet.  After that it was a breeze.

Congratulations on your surgery!

Haven't actually been sitting up using a computer. I posted from my phone. Came home this afternoon. That was rough. Hasn't been an easy time. Hemoglobin is down to 7.5, blood pressure was hanging out in the 80 over 40s. Had some dizziness and nausea. The Percocet takes the edge off, but doesn't take the pain away, AND it makes me itchy. So, yeah, I'm hanging in there, but it hasn't been the easiest go of things...
