Question about compression garments, and various other things...

Hiya

I have a few questions about compression garments. I'm wondering the following:

1. how long do you wear the binder?
2. Is there a different kind of garment that you can wear other than the binder?
3. And, if yes to #2, can anyone suggest a garment?
4. Approximately how long is it until you can fit in your regular clothes?
5. And finally, does the weight that they removed ever show up on the scale?
[boy, was that ever lunchbox letdown]

FYI, I had a tt and breast lift with auto augmentation 10 days ago, and boy-o-boy, are the girls sore : (

Thanks in advance  : )

Here's my experience:

1. how long do you wear the binder?  About a week
2. Is there a different kind of garment that you can wear other than the binder? Yes, I switched into a Compression Garment that went from my rib cage to just above my knees
3. And, if yes to #2, can anyone suggest a garment? I just posted a link to a bunch of different sites the other day...I'll try to find it
4. Approximately how long is it until you can fit in your regular clothes? I was able to wear my pre-op jeans on day 7 (I had very little swelling after my TT especially once I put on the compression garment).
5. And finally, does the weight that they removed ever show up on the scale?
[boy, was that ever lunchbox letdown]  It seems for most people it is never an even swap...5 lbs of skin doesn't necessarily equate to a 5 lb lose on the scale.  Many people lose a couple of pounds but the swelling that normally occurs can add lbs.  There are lots of people here *****main swollen for many months and some never see the scale really go down.  This is why I'm always telling people NOT to have plastic surgery as a way to reach a goal weight on the scale.

Hope that helps....

You are welcome......
BTW- is your "ID" a reference to the old TV show That Girl?  It was a favorite of mine as a kid...

: )

it's a slight reference, but it's more of a reference to when people say "you know, that girl with the blond hair, or that girl with the yellow VW bug," etc...

PS found the links that you posted the other day. Have you ordered on line? How do you find the sizing? I'd prefer to actually try something on, so I'll have to see if there is a retailer where I live. Are Spanx sufficient?

Yes I've ordered all of the ones i bought on-line.
They have a "click here for sizing" button but you can also take all your measurements and call the customer service number to verify the correct size.  I've found them very helpful.

Spanx are not sufficient...they are not "compression" garments.....they are ok after the 3 month mark but not during your initial post-op period.

Moosie,
I bought a 2-pack on one of the sites you suggested. The stage two garment is great but I am having trouble with the stage one. It is so uncomfortable, not because its tight but because of the big hole in the crotch. My butt hangs half way out of it and it looks like I have extra lumps. Am I wearing it wrong? I am almost4 weeks out. Should I just skip to the stage 2 garment?

LOL I had the same problem with one of my stage 1's.  It made my butt sore and I had too bumps all the time.  I sewed the crotch closed and it has worked fine ever since.  Much more comfortable!
If you don't want to sew it up and you can get into the stage 2 it is probably ok to switch over....you might want to ask your surgeon to be sure.  I just find it so much easier with the zippers...
