walking upright after TT

I had my tummy tuck on Friday and am doing pretty good.  It was a big c-section like incision.  Not the anchor cut.  my question for you is  - - how long was it before you could walk upright?  I think a lot of my pain is because my back is in the same position.

Hi there

I'm not sure if there is a standard answer for this, but I can tell you my experience at this point. I saw my surgeon 4 days after surgery. He removed the bandages and drain, and said that it was OK to walk upright. I am wearing a binder as well.

Good luck  : )

The sooner you can stand up straight the better.  I stayed with my parents after my tummy tuck, my mom is a nurse so everytime I stood up she would tell me to stand up straight.  It hurt getting into the upright position but once I was up the pain went away for me.

It depends....it's really different for everyone and depends a lot on how much muscle tightening you had.
I think on average most people are bend for up to two weeks but many straighten up before that.  I know when I had my 1st follow up appointment (about day 8) my nurse was surprised to see me walking so straight.

If you are going to try to straighten up don't over do it.....stretch the muscles slowly.....stop if you feel any pain!!!!!!!

Best wishes

I wouldn't intentionally try to walk straight if you aren't ready. You will naturally straighten up without even knowing you are doing it. I stood up straight from my LBL in about a week. Not nearly as long as I thought I would. I have heard of a few that took up to 4 weeks. I'm not sure why it's longer for some but I think most do it within the first couple of weeks.

I'm 6 days post-op from my LBL and I'm standing pretty upright. I have not pushed it, just kind of let it happen. Everyday I can stand up a lot straighter than the day before. I know one thing for sure the straighter I can stand the better I feel!

I had my LBL just about 3 weeks ago, and I was standing straight by day 3.  I have know idea why I was able to do it so soon, but it wasn't painful for me to do it...so I did.  My surgeon and his staff couldn't believe how up-right I was so soon after!

I was bent over for about 5 days and at the 7 day appointment was scolded for standing straighter. Basically I did what my body allowed and never pushed it. At 8 weeks, there is tightness if I stand perfectly straight but no pain. So the advice others gave to just let your body guide you when there is no pain is probably darn good advice.
