Thursday
Good morning everybody.
Trish - I didn't know about spaghetti sauce in a jar until long after I got married. Even then, I have always made my own. When the girls were young I substitued sauce from a jar. They were not impressed and often asked if we were eating "FAKE" sauce.
We are out of water. Tom refuses to accept that we need a new well. I've lived here 45 years and had 7 additional wells drilled. He's only been here 24 years and we have fought with water problems the entire time. He might come home to see me doing a naked rain dance on the front lawn.
A new post-op got in touch with me with concerns. The top questions were: should my belly still be swollen after two weeks and how do I get in 75 grams of protein a day?
Oh dear, poor woman. I told her to expect some swelling and bruising for a while. Do people really expect to come home all slender?
She's getting in a pretty good amount of protein for a newbie. Slow and steady plus a dose of patience was my advice.
It is time to call Water Willy and schedule a delivery. We have a 300 gallon holding tank which will get us through a couple of days.

A naked rain dance, now that sounds pretty darn funny if you ask me, but then again, if any of us WLS over 50s did that, the gods would probably deluge us from sheer panic. . .

If only I had the nerve to do that dance. The guys out in the garage would end up blind. Tom would most certainly have a stroke.
We hesitated the first time we called Water Willy. But he is the only one in this area who delivers water. Today I asked him how the business and name happened. It all started with his Grandpa Willy.
Yeah, the jokes pop into my head too.
Love n hugs back to you

Hi Shirley, OFFr friends,
Ahh yes, spaghetti sauce, conjures up some good childhood memories, I don't make it much anymore because I really don't tolerate pasta much since I had my WLS surgery and even before that, I wasn't a big pasta gal, growing up in an Italian family, we had pasta at least 2x a week and I guess I had my fair share of it by the time I grew up, plus how do you make it for one? I only know how to make a big pot of it with lots of good meat in it to give it that wonderful flavor, I sure do remember loving that smell as it simmered on the stove each Sunday. About once a year I make it now and I give my Tony, who can eat pasta every day, what is not used up, which is most of it (lol). . . I will use Wegman's sauce when I'm making something I only need a small amount of sauce for, they make good jarred sauce.
Well it is the kind of day that makes me wish I could play hooky, however, one girl is on vacation until next Tuesday and that makes taking a mental health day impossible, but I'm sure there will be other days suited to such a day off. So the alarm went off and I wanted to stay in bed, in spite of getting to bed at 9:15 last night, but up I got and out the door by 5:20 this morning, as I forgot to put my clothing in the car and had to first figure out what I was taking with me, anyway, made it to the gym, though I had to detour due to an accident on the highway I normally take to work, shaved off a little of my workout time, but I still managed to get in 45 minutes and that is better than nothing at all, I am at work now and afterwards it's home, feed the Roxie girl, maybe take her for a nice walk and then head out to an AA meeting with my friend Owen, after which it will be bedtime for the last of my early mornings of this week.
Wishing you all a good day, peace and strength to any and all of you facing life challenging situations.
Hugs, Laureen

Laureen,
Pasta is not my friend now either. Making a small batch of sauce is impossible.
I still make enough for an army but freeze it in small containers.
Tom eats and loves pasta. I put mine on all sorts of veggies with some ricotta & mozzarella. It's more like a vegetarian lasagna with meat sauce.

Laureen.....I too used to make my own sauce....I had occasionally used a jar when it was just me. I added all kinds of things to it so it was better tasting. I haven't been able to eat pasta or rice since surgery. I thing my daughter and I are going to make spaghetti squash instead of the pasta and see how that works. Jamie has to go Gluten Free so she can't eat regular pasta either. I will let you know how I like it.
