2 dog night
You think you had it bad with two dogs, though. When I dogsat for my friends in Lubbock, Texas, I had seven dogs in bed with me. Yes, I said 7 ... seven! Bruce and Rita had seven rescue dogs, the biggest was ... oh, the breed name escapes me but it was the kind of dog that was on "Frasier." Smallest was a psycho Chihuahua named Molly. They all slept in the king-sized bed with me. I had to push them out of the way so I had room to sleep. And I am allergic to dogs (but not cats). I took my meds and had my inhaler handy just in case.
Bruce has since died, and the dog pack is down to five, I believe.
I hear you! We have some very amazing and devastatingly loud storms here in Oklahoma (but boy when we really, really need rain, we got nada!)
After the last storm, and my older Aussie chewed 3 pair of my fave shoes (of course leather) when I wasn't home with them, I took the advice of one of my doggie trainer friends.
Check out www.thundershirt.com and you won't believe how MUCH difference they made, nearly instantly. I got them on a Wednesday, and I put them on immediately for an hour. Did the same thing the next night, for a little longer, then put them on Friday morning because I knew we were having severe storm warnings and depending on when it it (if the weather people were right) I wouldn't be home. These shirts are lightweight but sturdy and you don't have to put them on very snuggly but if your pet tolerates it, by all means.
My kids' anxiety was reduced EASILY by half, and that's all around: trembling, panting, drooling, heads hanging, and they didn't feel the need to climb into my lap during a storm!! My little Aussie is so sensitive we can't even use the flash on a camera in the house. All of this is SOOOOOO much more relaxed!
I am as big a skeptic as there is, but when I saw the videos and read the comments I was totally willing to spend $81 to get two shirts.....not near as much as 3 pair of nice shoes cost me!! Plus they have a 30 day no questions asked refund. what's not to like? The videos are NOT edited some ridiculous way to make you think it's working--they are WORKING. They will walk the dog and let the dog exhibit it's neurosis and while the camera is rolling they will put the shirt on and show the difference.
Anyway, it's worked tremendously for me. No more dogs ripping up my bed, my legs, my face, etc trying to get to 'mommy'. I'm a happy camper and they're much more calm.
